Anyone remember the song.
צילוב א מאמעס האנט וואס מאכט מיט איר קליין קינד אחד ,די אידישע פרוי

One of the most beautiful yiddish songs ever.

I would LOVE to sing that one again on Friday night with 500 girls.

Also, I still remember Mrs zupnik. In my days it was called Mrs zupnik s camp rav tov. She used to spend the summers in camp.

Ya, they're alta kokers. Nearly a decade older
Oh, but don't take offense, you guys seem to have a memory like eisen. I have a crazy short and vague memory.

Also, in the olden days, it was THE GIRLS who made camp a hit. With their imagination and creativity.

I was one of those girls... Always on to something, and always managed to get out of trouble with sneaky ways.

I LOVED singing too.
Something about the singing Friday night after the meal, in the shpielhose, nothing rushing anyone out...
Nevermind the white bluskas and black skirt for the choir girls.

Page 13 here... I havent read anything yet.... but....
I'm so old that probably very few of you were there in my times.
I started camp in 7th grade, I was in מאה אחוזים and my class was עשר
In 8th grade I was in chudosh, in פרדס מבחר, my class was אתרוגים.
In 9th grade I was in the very ill-fated אבני מלואים in ברקת....
we had the salmonella outbreak....
"ברקת ברקת צוקוועטשטע פאטעיטאס"...
"אין הארלעם פראוועט מען האלאווין"....
10th grade I was a fourth grade counselor. My almost favorite year. I loved my girls. I made a ton of money in tips!
11th grade, I was a 7th grade teacher.... we were in יד אחת, and my class was זרת. my favorite year!!

If you were in camp any of these years and you remember anything of what I wrote, pipe up!

Btw I take credit for this thread, bc all of my comments on the Yiddish lyrics thread inspired all this Very Happy

You deserve all the credit.
And it seems that you could be my mother.
Nothing of what you mentioned rings a bell.

Seriously, did they need to tell us every morning to get up and get dressed?

But I will say that the Kokosh cake was the best one yet. I want some now and wish they would sell it. Or give it to former campers who are traumatized by their experience. Sleeping with 30 other kids in the same room, sometime doubleup is not fun among other things that werent fun in the camp (like someone already mentioned having to sit and cheer other people play games instead of actively participating etc).

One I remember!!
I used to mimic the scary head od and the girls thought I’m her! Good times...
We made trouble and ordered pizza from side entrance.....
Tons of memories. I and friends wore a white bikini to swimming and the girls were so jj

We used to pretend daven shemona esrah 😳 there. Klapped al cheit, shukled etc... (why couldn’t we just daven faren zelben gelt?? Ah the youthful foolishness...)

I remember shlepping to a tchvuks a tchvekels bunk to take a shower because I had too many sad stories (muddy stuff, cold water...) in the public showers.

I wonder if any of you were my bunk mates- a group of girls got into the shower in shvimkleider. Oy did this cause a ruckus. And the time my bunk locked out the OD & mr kohn & mr herbst yelling to us to open the door. (It was a big fire hazard ps, & a few nights later was the Alta guest esszal, bakery & classrooms fire) ooh did we chap a crush’s after, and we all got strashed to get a call to our parents & I think we had to write them a letter? Details a bit fuzzy...

The alteh shpeelhoize was used by first transport in my days. And families lived on top. Anyone remember ח.ג.? ooh I have to start a new thread.

Was that Rochel Leah Biener who had down syndrome?

She was my first removed cousin and an amazing person who lived really long for an adult with Downs. Passed away less than a month ago I think.

Monroe and Boro Park were always against each other then WB was divided half with BP and half with Monroe. Who did you back?

ROFL. Yup, they always pitted Bp against Monroe.

I had so many crushes on my boro park grade, it's a fantastic grade full of amazing girls. I didnt meet them until 9th grade.

The poor girls sang a song about not having TVs and wearing Palm tights, bc we regarded them as so modern. Very Happy
