I guess it depends how much trouble the teen is making....

usually, the boys come home every 4th or 5th week, so there is no reason to visit. for israel-or another country, its nice if u can afford it.
as for girls, they usually try to come home more often (if just in another state). of course, it all depends on how far away the kids are, and ones monetary situation.

My brothers come home for Tishrei, Nissan, and summer. The ones in North American yeshivas, also Shabbos Chanukah, and they go to NY for Yud Shvat. My parents don't really go visit them.

I get mine every 2 weeks, but if there is a problem I have to shlepp up there. Once ds forgot his hat on the bus. Other ds went to lostand found in his car and picked it up and I shlepped to the yeshiva, handed him the hat and turned around. Co0ming back to get it himself would've stretched to 2 days for me it was about 4 hours altogether.

I'd never really heard of it but over the xmas break I saw a family visiting their daughters who are in school here I thought it was sweet!
I'm sure if you did visit (at the right time) it woudl be welcomed!
