Its not officially a shabbos box. But instead of weekday food they put shabbos type food.
Last week was a slice of gefilte fish, serving of potato kugel, a challah roll, a small grape juice, apple sauce, and cole slaw.

They gave same thing (same vendor) at pine park and bnos devora last week, from what I heard seems that bnos devorah was a much much longer wait, maybe due to the setup of the distribution .

We also got an interesting lunch box from the Cheder yesterday.
It’s good they change the “menu” a little.

We got 2 small pans of potato kugel for 4 kids, 2 packages hot dogs with 2 bags hot dog rolls, pizza bagels, frozen whole wheat hot pretzels, frozen potato blintzes, 2 bags baby carrots, 2 bags Haolam shredded cheese, 3 bottles apple juice, around 15 mini apple juices (maybe that was instead of apples this week), 2 large bottles milk, a few mini bottles, snack bags but this time a better (spicy) variety that my kids like, 4 gelbsteins danishes

This is breakfast and lunch for 4 children for a week.
Today I heated up the kugel and opened up a can of baby corn. I also made a pitcher of iced coffee...

That sounds like an awesome change of variety. My kids are getting very bored already. Is the Cheder open only to their parent body or to all?

Maybe the govt is giving food because people are struggling economically...? Would be nice if my kids actually ate any of it Sad

My kids eat it all. It’s such a help for me. Financially and emotionally.

You need to register for pickups, so I guess only for parents

The email says it’s just for TCS families...

They aren't allowed to do this. Neither is the Cheder. My kids' school tried it and someone complained so the new letter said anyone can come.

Actually, they are. It depends how they are running the program, but one option would cover only families who send to that school (including siblings not currently in the school) from age 3-18.

That's how it was set up until now. Since then the letter clarified that it now includes everyone. I wonder why they are doing the opposite of all the other schools? It seems like now everyone started restricting to their school only.
In any case, the school has a donor that owns a takeout place so the Shabbos box is BH great.

So why can’t a donor decide to just donate food for that school’s students?

Okay I think I just figured it out. There were two texts. One gave the same info as the letter with the pickup instructions. It was followed by a second text (I thought it was strange at the time but now I understand why) that said families in the school will be provided with a second box of [list of foods] donated by XYZ. It's possible the donor doesn't want to feed all of Lakewood so not everyone gets the second box.
