Anytime I go to my best friend in mo. Bc I have to plan ahead and I don't. Bc get kitchen isn't kosher. And the kosher food is 40 mins or Costco size. But it's so amazing I still remember the first time I did it. Was the best.

Tell me about any Broadway show

Gosh it’s been a loooong time. But I loved watching the singing and the dancing. I’ll have to say, I’ve been super impressed at the Jewish plays I’ve seen in recent years. They’ve really improved in quality. So I’m happy my girls at least have a closer equivalent without feeling like they’re missing out on that part. But I still feel bad for my boys... haven’t found anything close to broadway style that’s kosher for them.

I did see an off broadway show in Yiddish once. It was terrible. 😆 my grandmother’s cousin was an actress in it so I went with my grandparents and some cousins. It was Yentl which was a highly inappropriate show for me to be seeing at my young age. My cousin looked at me and said; “feeling young??” We two were the only ones there under fifty at the time (and we were under twenty!! 😆) I do not understand Yiddish and so I wore headphones with English. I was horrified at the Mikva scene to say the least. I was a naive young girl... my grandfather said to me “don’t tell your school we took you...!” 😂 good memories!

It wasn’t bad acting. Just terrible hashkafically. And by under twenty I mean like fourteen/fifteen.

Tell me, what is something you enjoyed as a girl but either grew out of or no longer do for hashkafic reasons.

Woohoo Frantic Frumie! My girls and I just watched a zoom show (?) of frum women singing and comedy. It’s nice that we have kosher entertainment—especially in these times.

Speaking of birds, we had the opportunity to do shiluach haken the other week! I was the one who did it because my husband had done it once before. I had in mind that it should be a zechus for all of klal yisroel. The nest was on our neighbor’s front porch. I think the bird built it there now because their ten kids weren’t outside as much as they’d normally have been to chase them away! 😆

Tell me about a funny reaction you’ve got for doing something different than the secular world and what was it that you were doing.

And YES we did it with social distancing. Our neighbors called us to come when they were not outside.

Uh oh. Did I scare everyone away with that last one? Or did I just talk too much and you can’t get to the tell me? 😆

I’ll answer myself.

When my coworkers discovered that I was wearing a sheitel...! The bus driver at the school I was interning at wanted to know why I wasn’t covering my hair—was I less religious than the other women he saw in Lakewood (once upon a time when I lived in Lakewood...!) When I told him that I actually was wearing a wig... 😱 He was amazed!! He said “wow. That must’ve been really expensive!” And then he went and asked everyone “did you know she’s wearing a wig?!”

“Cuz I’m a Jew...” 🎵

Tell me if you’re familiar with country Yossi. What is your favorite song or line from his songs. If not, pick any song you grew up with.

My zany little brother used to bop around the house singing (ok hollering) "I'm a one eyed one eared flying lukshen kugel eater" man, that would drive us crazy. I gotta remind him.

Shalom sumsum. I never watched it but heard of it from my friend. Sesame Street in English?

I wouldn’t call it freaky but I’ve discovered that beets on pizza is really yummy. That’s been my new pizza topping. Can’t think of anything freaky...

What freaky food do you or your family members eat? Or just plain weird?

My Brother used to put chocolate on his pizza

There is a beautiful story told of Itzchak playing his violin with only three strings. Apparently that story has not been verified, says my google search. Oh well. Makes for an inspiring story.

What’s your favorite inspiring story (true or not)

“The idea for the Post-it note was conceived in 1974 by Arthur Fry as a way of holding bookmarks in his hymnal while singing in the church choir. He was aware of an adhesive accidentally developed in 1968 by fellow 3M employee Spencer Silver.” —google

Tell me what you use post-it notes for.

At work. If I'm in the middle of an invoice and they ask me to do something else, but it can wait, I pull a post it and write it down. Also when getting info from someone nearby

“ The mouse, and therefore the mouse cursor, was invented by Douglas Engelbart, and was initially an arrow pointing up.

When the XEROX PARC machine was built, the cursor changed into a tilted arrow. It was found that, given the low resolution of the screens in those days, drawing a straight line (left edge of arrow) and a line at a 45 degree angle (right edge of arrow) was easier to do and more recognizable than the straight cursor.”

Thank you google once again.

Never ever thought about that.

Tell me something that you never stopped to think about.

I remember when my father had a car phone installed in our Buick station wagon. It was bigger than a brick, and almost as heavy.
The entire neighborhood lined up on our driveway to take their turn and place a call on it.
