When I complained about being hungry (when I had eaten) my mother would offer an apple or other fruit. And then when I declined she would laugh and say if I were hungry I would eat the apple gladly.
We do that too! Sometimes a kid will refuse and insist only on whatever they wanted more of. But sometimes they really are hungry and go take what was offered. Often they first insist on more of whatever it was (the 2nd piece of pizza that the youngest will want in a few minutes, but it hasn't been eaten because the youngest eats more slowly), but then when they see we won't budge, and they really are hungry, just change their minds and go take the fruit or veggie.
Hungry kids eat the food that there is. Kids who aren't really hungry won't eat anything other than the specific food they want.
Legally they can’t turn anyone away. But they don’t have to advertise it.
Both My kids school is doing the same because they run out of meals as it is.
They don’t advertise it but if you want to take for other or aren’t a school family they must give you.
I turn the milk into iced coffee....goes quickly in my house....
Thank you for the idea. I did this tonight and my kids were sooo happy.
We are loving the food. It is a huge help for me financially and emotionally (don’t have to help kids figure out lunch while working full time and running a school). I’m so grateful.

-School Lunches: Today some locations will be giving out food for shabbos too in the lunch meals. Bnos Devorah is giving grape juice, challa rolls Potato kugel,Cholent, kishka, Tomato dip, Cole slaw, Chrain,Cake, Milk, Circa distribution will be giving lunch on Sunday too.
Circa at Cheder Toras Zev 1000 Cross street 10:00 am or Bnos Yaakov at Pine Park the last playground at 11:00 am for all children 18 and under - Out to lunch distribution at Bnos Devorah on Oak street 9:30 am - 11:30 am, 4 corners at John Patrick sports park off vine 11:00 am
