Hold on. Her kitchen was free? Then her advertisement is fake. Same with her constant babbling about gourmet glatt lakewood. Its kinda like she is saying, just shop in this store even if there are better prices and/or quality items elsewhere because she is getting things for free. That is completely unfair to people who will actually fall for it as they may be overpaying for things that they can get cheaper elsewhere. Wow. How is this even legal?

Also, if she did get the kitchen for free then I wonder if she actually got to choose the color/design or if they chose it instead. Just saying this because it is sooo white and then she has the silver appliances with the gold hardware which I hate. Cant be that she chose such a kitchen as she is usually so colorful so I would think that she would have added color to her kitchen or at least in the backsplash so they must have done it for her if they did it for free. I guess you get what you pay for.

I was actually behind her in line in GG and she paid with a credit card. They’re probably paying her separately.

I'm totally not convinced she got it for free. no one gives service plus merchandise completely for free even for an ad that thousands will see. just like most people don't buy her amazon finds, even less will go running to symco kitchens or park ave appliance to have their kitchens designed and outfitted there. so no I really don't believe she gets anything for free.
I assume she either gets a discounted price or she pays full price and also gets paid for her work, two separate transactions. either way it makes no difference to me. I like her content and ideas and the rest is irrelevant to me.

This.
I assumed that she got a discounted rate on her kitchen.

So surprised that no one mentioned Sarah lasry, she is brutally honest and real and I really trust her ... she will not recommend just anything. Actually I’m not even sure if she does this or not...

Op, you need to find an influencer in the industry of the product you are looking to promote. Is it food or a kitchen product? Find a foodie, recipe developer etc Is it a makeup, skin care product- find a well know make up artist.. etc That way you will reach your target audience more directly

It's neither food nor beauty related. So I'm simply wondering who has the trust of their followers who can help me publicize this upcoming thing.

there is a whole category of pple who do some minor promotions but are super duper transparent about it so it doesn’t bother me and also provide enough regular content to make it watchable:
Sarah Lasry
Overtime cook
Esteez
munchiesbymindee
Comic cook
Betweencarpools

Peasloveand carrots-actually don’t think she does any promos bshita
Gitty Berger and
Unconditional parenting promote their own services exclusively which I don’t mind.

Also say what you want but eishesstyle provides a service with her swipeups and doesn’t try to hide the fact that she makes money off her Instagram account, she speaks openly about her commission and whatnot.

Perhaps I should buy advertising here from Yael, and get a savvier audience than I would from Instagram!

I don't think it would be ethical to write about what I want to promote here, as its fairly unique.

You already have a good name here. If you are selling something I use, I would buy it from you.

I have a question ... the frum influencers who promote items etc. are doing it to make a living . They have a job like someone else in sales and if they manage to convince you to buy it they make money. If they can’t convince their audience they don’t their fee. As long as they write sponsored, client or other key legal terms they are doing nothing wrong.
There are some influencers who bshita won’t promote any products who seem to get higher accolades. It seems like there’s not too many because it’s only influencers who are not
Doing this to earn money - so if they are well off ( or their husbands family is ) then they have no need to make their platform a money making entity.
So to my
Question. Why hate on the ones who push products ? If they are open about why , they do it they are no different than the saleslady in the dress shop who says that dress looks good on you or the waiter who says you’ll love the special.

Because it's a.n.n.o.y.I.n.g

When I go to a restaurant I am there to try their foods. When I go on IG I have no interest in products being pushed in my face. I unfollow anyone who does this more than once or twice.

My worst are the female singers .
Also the singers who sing Celine dion songs and pretend it’s their own or it’s jewish by changing two or three words. They are awful to my ears and doing something not right.

Right but the server who says get this special
It’s amazing because it’s high priced or because it’s going to go bad. Just as annoying - at least on insta you can turn them off .

I think it's because most of us don't watch QVC. We don't want to constantly be sold to. (I know you're not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition, but... help!!!)

Also, it's somewhat sleazy when the influencers are pretending to love a product, and we know good and well that they're being paid to promote it.

I once received a free $70 dress from a company trying to break into frum fashion. I posted that they gifted it to me, and encouraged my followers to follow them if they like modest clothing. I would feel deceitful to pretend otherwise.

A few months ago, I was offered clothing for my daughter for free, in exchange for promotion on Instagram. I told the merchant that I would be open with my followers about receiving the dresses for free, and she immediately pulled her offer.

A couple of years ago when she was less well known she approached the company I work for and said she would promote us if we gave her something for free. But it's something much less expensive than a kitchen, you really can't compare. More recently she wanted to purchase something from us again and when we said we we wanted the same deal she basically laughed in our faces and said that these days she charges mega bucks and it wouldn't be worth it for her.

So I have no idea if she got her kitchen for free, that definitely sounds like a lot, but she definitely gets or has gotten, smaller things for free.

When you go to a restaurant or clothing shop then you know the waiter or salesperson works for the store so they will tell you whatever they think will make you buy the merchandise.
On instagram, some of the people promoting products do not say that they work for the company they are selling the product for so it looks like they are not being paid to do the work and are doing it on their own free will without any benefits. Thats false advertisement.
And its upsetting because someone like Raizyscookin is so talented and creative that its questionable why she is doing things like this. For example, she likes to cook and bake so she can easily bake her own blintzes and come up with new recipes for fillings, etc. but she is instead promoting a product that is expensive and not always fresh or available. Her kitchen is not the greatest but she is promoting the store anyway without telling viewers about the benefits that she receives from promoting it. She is promoting gourmet glatt but apparently doesnt realize that there are cheaper places so why should anyone buy at gourmet glatt? Just because she gets paid to promote these things? And she is not even transparent about it? How is this not fraud or false advertisement?

I believe it is illegal for influencers to advertise without being transparent about it - it bothers me tremendously when they do. To me it feels manipulative and makes me feel 'talked down to.' Do they really think I won't realize this is an ad especially when someone promotes a campaign or product acting like they just discovered the most amazing thing when ten other people are advertising the same thing that day! Do you really have no faith in the intelligence of your followers?

The solution is to remember that the Instagramer is not your friend. Now you know. You have no reason to trust their opinion on anything - or do anything they tell you to do.

I doubt she got her kitchen free free but obviously she got something. She keeps tagging them every single time she’s in her kitchen. I loved her content but lately it’s gotten annoying.

My sister works for a clothing company and just today I saw someone on insta opening up a package from them and showing how “incredible” “soft” “adorable” blah blah the clothing were. I showed my sister and she said- duh I called her and asked her if I could send her in exchange for promotion. Lol.

I find myself believing no one when it comes to promoting a product or something on Instagram. Never know if they're getting paid for it or not. When someone on Instagram keeps tagging and talking about something they recently got,I'm sorry, there's no way it's a genuine feeling coming from themselves. Too much belogny. I just skip over those posts or stories.

There are laws about this, about being transparent about being paid or receiving something for promotion, etc.

There are some very popular frum accounts who have not followed this, and when I messaged them to ask what they think about this, said they're busy now and they'll get back to me... another one explained to me why it's not good for her business to do that (I actually disagree, but that's not the point, that's why the law is there).

@overtimecook, Miriam Pascal, for example, is super transparent and will hashtag "sponsored" or "client" very clearly on the stories where she uses those products. She is passionate about this. There are such accounts. She says she values her followers' trust above all, and while they all say that, they don't all follow through.

Some of the accounts have gotten slightly better, if you look carefully, will now hashtag sponsored in the first of their multiple hashtags at the end of the post. And I am pretty sure one of them at least edited now to add that to old posts.

It bothers me a lot, not sure why. I guess I feel if the Bachelorette influencers make it clear, why aren't the frum accounts?

Overtime Cook excels in this area - Hats off to her! She earns my respect.

Even the accounts who add a small sponsored hashtag often don't say a word when promoting on a story. It's wrong.
