I know it's summer for most of you, but it's still winter here. Anyone have a good recipe for cabbage soup?

brown a pice of meat (chuck, flanken, steak whatever), sautee a spanish onion, put in large pot with one chopped up cabbage (careful chopping!), two of the large (I think 15 oz) cans hunts tomato sauce, brown sugar or splenda to taste (start with 1/2 cup), add water to almost top of pot.
bring to a simmer and cook about an hour, depending on how large the cabbage peices are

I also put in marrow bones.
And I season with salt, black pepper and garlic powder instead of sugar/splenda since I prefer it savory, rather than sweet.

1/2 cup diced onion
2/3 cup sliced carrots
2 garlic cloves, minced
green beans (I use 1 can)
1.5 cups diced cabbage
1 T tomato paste
3 cups broth
salt
pepper
oregano
Spray the pot with cooking spray. Sautee the onion, garlic & carrots on a low flame. When tender add rest of the ingredients & bring to a boil. Simmer for 15 minutes.
I double the recipe, usually add more liquid & let simmer for a little more than 15 minutes.
