Yeah, I'd want to know about it simply to avoid setting foot in the area...

should be put in the private area , Any one on the web can read this. |
Anyone can already read it by viture of it being in the Record.
Tammy |
True. But how many people will stumble upon the newspaper site and read it. Whereas many people can stumble upon this site by some search. Do we want this to be what non-Jews or secular Jews think religious Jews are all about?

Not a particular thread, just how many ppl are currently on this site. On the bottom of the "Home page" it says how many registered users and guests.

And you think they are all here reading about the tznius police? There are a large number of guests on any given day.

For the sake of her family , they should at least delete her name. She is
a very nice girl and could be a member of this site .

Sorry to say this but that story is no secret, its a published article, and its nothing new to most peoples eyes what goes on in close knit communities. If they were even slightly embarrassed by it they probably wouldn't vandalize cars.

But at the same time, I think that things like this should at least be in a section where you have to be a member of imamother to view. I think that someone might end up at this board because they are curious about kosher cooking or judaism or whatever and then if they read something like this here on a Jewish forum, it is not good. If a Jew, they could be turned off and now have more reason to not become religious. If a non-Jew, it could spread even more hatred against Jews. I just think that giving even more publicity has the potential to contribute to more harm than good.

What I don't understand is, I've been to KJ and I've seen how people dress and how they describe her dress, although it sounds odd, is very different from the typical woman there. Why would someone want to live there if they don't want to go by the dress code? Wouldn't she feel more comfortable somewhere like Boro Park? Can a KJer enlighten me please? I don't think it's right they defaced their car but there is such an inyan as dressing according to the community standard. A sari for instance is a very tsnius garment but if I went around Boro Park or Crown Heights wearing it people would be staring at me and I wouldn't be very tsnius at all.

There was a thread on this article in the Chassidishe Velt forum, and it was put there for a reason: since not everyone can understand this, it should be discussed only by those who do. That's why they made the separate forums in the first place.

I hate to say this but my husband was reading this on a blog maybe Vus is Neiyes or something (I don't keep track which blogs he reads) and it's about as public as this can get. This is not a private issue anymore. Is it worthwhile to talk about it maybe not but it's not a private issue really, which is in a way too bad. People with bones to pick on chassidishkeit are probably having a field day.

They ARE having a field day. If you go to the article in the online Record, and read the comments left by neighbors of KJ, you will see many of them upset about the fact that KJ men are hypocritical. People relate how they see the hasids in strip clubs and bars around the Monroe area, and how they rent X-rated movies. It's sad to see.

I'd call them The Standards Police, not tsnius police. There are many standards that are still cons. tsnius, although they don't meet that level.

I don't think that this article should only be for chassidim to see. This is why I dislike the closed forums. I saw that pic and she looked tzanua, it wasn't bright neon pink. Maybe it is a sensitivity that I am missing. I can see the denim skirt thing a little. She should have just gotten a notice or something. whoever did that violence should strip themselves of their yarmulke and peyos. The way they did it was a total chillul Hashem and it makes chassidish ppl look horrible., which I for one think that they are wonderful. It also makes religious jews as a whole look bad.
is there a way that guests can't see this, I agree that guests should not be able to see it.
