I recently moved to lakewood and I am debating what to do next year. Is between doing a playgroup in my house o or subbing. I was offered quite a few teaching jobs but at this stage I'm choosing bet the two. Does anyone know how much a substitute gets paid in Lakewood? And about playgroup. How much is the going rate for playgroup? What are usually the hours

I don’t have answers for you but I can tell you that a friend of mine said she likes subbing preschool since that age is not a discipline issue when subbing (usually) I think she signs up for long term subbing like when someone is on maternity leave. Also she can say “no “ from time to time if she can’t do the job.
As far as Lakewood play group hours go- they are officially from 9:30-2:00 but many offer an additional optional hour and call the extra hour “clubs”. Consider what you will do if you have play group age kids of your own and have to get them out or home at the same time.

Substitutes are usually paid $22-25/hour. Jobs are pretty easy to come by. There are places where you can list yourself. There is also a whatapp group where the morah's list their needs.
Playgroup morahs are paid $235-250/month. When you offer extra hours (e.g., 9:15-3:00), it usually brings in about another $100/kid/month. The number of children in a playgroup can also determine how much you can charge. If you take a smaller group, sometimes you can charge a little more for that. Group sizes in lakewood vary greatly and depend on age

I am under the impression that group size is smaller outside of Lakewood (although I do not know in comparison to Brooklyn).
Also, if you are a licensed daycare or work fuller hours, you can charge more.
One other point to consider, Signing up for playgroups in Lakewood, generally happens between Chanukah- Tu B'shvat. It is very late in the season to be able to fill registration. You may be best off subbing for this school year and opening registration for the following year.

No one in Lakewood can charge that! Our hours start late and end early (9:30-2:00.) I paid $250 with the option of going until 3:00 for $340 a month.
My child was in a smaller group with only 16 kids. Most Lakewood groups are larger. This teacher had the expense of paying an assistant and also paying rent for the basement since she doesn’t have room in her house.
Op, it’s probably too late to start a playgroup - everyone knows where they are going in September. Maybe you can open a babysitting group if you have patience for newborns ?

16? Wow that's tons! I'm taking only 5 kids since I feel that each child deserves private attention.
