DD wants to celebrate her 18th birthday with her class in her college program and all of them aren’t Jewish. Cupcakes are too hard to shelp on two trains, so she toyed with the idea of buying something treif . . but since some of the students ARE Jewish, I told her she should just bake brownies or a cake that’s easily transported.

She had the idea of cookies – what do you all think? She already had a choc mousse cake at home with family for her Jewish birthday.

Because you don't choose your classmates, and some are friendly with the good non Jews.

cookies are okay but cupcakes can be more FUN ... how many would she need ... just put them in the cupcake pan for transport ... I bet you have something ... how far is the trip ... don't buy treif ...

DD is in trade school. It's Jewish owned, but not limited to Jews.

When we reigstered her and saw who attended (all different kinds of ppls), I told her that I didn't expect her to be haughty and sit apart from everyone else.

You could still do cupcakes with cute colored icing.... You could wrap them (when they are cooled down AND when the icing is hard) individually in surrend wrap (or any clear plastic foil) and carry them in a bag of any store (not such a shlep, considering she doesn´t care carrying around a bag of Old Navy with a new skirt and top.. LOL ) and sooo enjoyable!!!

choc - you didn't explain the contradiction

nobody said she should be haughty

having a party with them is the other extreme and not advisable IMO

I would say it depends on the party. A nice evening is not like a wild party.

It's not a party. She's giving out donuts (that's what she bought) during lunch to the other students and the hanholo.

but that's how it would look. haughty. why she isn't sitting with everone, and studying with them, etc.

that's how the school works. it's a small class - 2 doz students. and they intern togther, etc.

It's one thing to study with and talk to them at school. I would be very weary about socialising outside of school, though.

You need to study that? (No offence of anything I'm just pretty sure some of my friends have worked in that in the past without and previous knowlege or experience)
