Fire Fighter

Just behind our house
There’s a fire engine stationed,
Making a lot of noise,
This isn’t only from their alarm, should be mentioned.

Cause for the action we experience,
Is mainly due to the training,
The firemen climb and jump,
Run and splash without explaining.

After all, they think,
When an emergency is under way
We have to be ready,
To distinguish the fire without delay.

So it is with our yetzer harah,
Was my observation,
He comes and fight with us,
Without any hesitation.

Our job is to train ourselves,
We have to be ready at any time of kind,
To win the war against the fire,
That burns constantly inside our mind.

So let us exercise our self-control,
With little steps one by one,
We shouldn't give in to our desires,
Just to give the yetzer harah some fun.

Let us wait a few minutes,
Before opening a letter,
Let us forgo an interesting remark,
This way we will all become better.

Our self-control will be trained,
To abstain from our desires with ease,
And when the yetzer harah will come,
He’ll hopefully give us a quick release!

that's extinguish

That just reminded me of the photographer at my brother's wedding: as everybody was posing for a family picture, he called out, "O.K. family xyz, you're looking very extinguished tonight!" Obviously, he got an amazing photo, with everybody smiling happily!
