Teens are embarrassed by their parents. It goes with the territory. They are embarrassed to HAVE parents. A popular American singing star confessed that his dd used to writhe with embarrassment whenever he sang at home and would beg him to please not sing--this, a man whom millions of people pay big bucks to hear sing!

Sorry to say it OP, but you're wrong. True, kids are always embarrassed of parents, what they say, how they look etc. BUT if you're saying things about your children on the phone and it embarrasses them? According to the Chofetz Chaim, it's Lashon Hora. You're not allowed to say it!
As for your sheital or clothes or whatever, they say this for years - DO NOT GIVE IN, and hopefully when they're a little older, they'll stop. I did. I'm sure we all did that. Parents embarrass us when we're teens, it's all part of the territory.
When I was younger and would tell my mom how to do things, she would exclaim, "without you, I'd eat my soup with a fork!"

A shocking generalization.
I was not embarrassed by my parents. I loved when my father came to my school and sat in on classes. I was so proud.

I was not embarrassed either, so it's not a generation thing. Now, yes, some parents ARE embarrassing.
Motek, your dad went to class with you, or I didn't understand well?
I once made my husband (then we were just dating) come to me to a horrid, non understandable course because he said he would understand. I told the teacher my dh was fascinated by linguistics a la Noam Chomsky, so the teacher was flattered and agreed.
My husband almost died of boredom and no, didn't understand.
It was the first class I totally failed.
