I went to JEC and Bruriah. Nice to see a bunch of other Bruriah graduates here!
I loved Bruriah but that was due to the amazing friends I had there. I think I'm pretty typical but typical is such a range because the families in the school were too

I went to HSBY, and im not sure there is a typical "poster child" that im aware of...

I also went to JEC and Bruriah (hi there!). I wouldn't say I was totally typical of either one, but I'm probably not far off.
In JEC, although I fit in religiously, I did not fit in socially - I was a weird kid, when JEC wants you to fit a more normal mold; but, I was not the only one. Bruriah was much more right wing religiously in my day, and I came from a middle of the road modern orthodox family - I certainly was not unique among the girls in the school and fell somewhere in the middle religiously, but I didn't match the "as close as you can get to being a beis yaakov without being a beis yaakov" hashkafa of Bruriah back then (at the time, this was not uncommon for the JEC girls, actually, despite them being part of the same school system). I actually went through several phases in my Bruriah days - first modern orthodox, then I was chareidi, then I was agnostic, and then went back to being modern orthodox but a little differently than before. That's not typical either, but it all worked out.
I think at the end of the day, I turned out pretty typical overall - I live in Israel, we're dati torani, I'm married with a kid, have a master's degree and a job, my husband works full time but learns a little every day, etc. There are several other people from my high school grade and other grades who could be described exactly that way (there's even one in my neighborhood).
Always nice to see other JEC people and Bruriah graduates pop up here

Public School till 9th grade, then went to BY in Antwerp. It's a good school, I wouldn't say I'm the typical graduate, although I don't think there are any 'typical graduates', it's quite diverse.

I was definitely there with you, and I guess you're a choice of 4 people in my mind...
I was also GO but after you left (cuz 1683 family year I was a freshie)...
Was definitely a poster student too Don't know if I'd send my kids there, because its totally changed, and doubt it'll still be open in another 14 years (my daughter is not even 1 yo yet)

Were they bais yaakovy by birth or just as they got older?
There were a few girls who shifted pretty far to the right in my year, but very few. The school was attempting to shift to the right (namely Mrs Stern and Mrs Newman), but it wasn't actually there.
It could have been different by grade or by year. I graduated in 2000.

Satmar BP as well. What year did you complete the 12th grade (I would say graduate high school but lets face it, we don't really graduate high school...)?

I was the year after you. There was a strong bais yaacov contingent my year, including mrs Newmans granddaughter. Lots of them are kollel wives (I'm not sure if still, but many are in Lakewood) and a lot moved to the right and became more chareidi from centrist backgrounds.

Well, you're younger than me than because Ramapo opened when I was already in BY - no grade for me.
My niece went to Ramapo. Her younger sister started in Ramapo and switched to BY. Sounds like there can be traffic in both directions.

I wish,wish,wish I was currently living up to the ideals taught in school and seminary.
OTOH Sometimes I feel bitter about certain things that I think should have been presented differently in school.But then I (try to) remember what one of my favorite teachers really used to stress to us:
"Don't be the type of the person who is thirty years old and still blaming her failings,problems and current life situation on her school and parents"

Another HSBY grad here! Even though there is a range, I was definitely a Hanna sacks girl and a lot of who I am now is influenced by the school and teachers I had.

Satmar Monsey here. Am I the only one?
I went there way back when there weren't many chasidish school options in Monsey, so we had other 'chassidisen' in our class and in the school. I would send my kids back except that I married into a different chassidus (my family wasn't Satmar either) and with the number of chasidish schools in Monsey today, the school is exclusively Satmar so my dd would stand out...
