Ever since I moved to my latest apt when I wash the dark clothing they get these white powder stains on them. At first I thought it is from using powder detergent that didn't dissolve, but even after switching to liquid it still happens. I don't know what could be causing this to happen. Anyone have a clue what I can do to avoid this problem?

Sunshine it could be the water is hard . What I would try to do is put the detergent in first, let it disolve or wait till machine totaly fills up till you fill w/h clothes.

could also be lint--are you cleaning the lint filter after every load? are you overloading the machine?
could be hard water residue or soap residue on the machine itself. try adding plain distilled white vinegar to the rinse water or running the machine through a cycle with no clothes (in the machine, not on you
) and adding a gallon of vinegar to the water.
