I strongly believe in trusting our children when they want to eat or they're simply not hungry. (Obviously only if they're healthy & gaining weight appropriately) Now that it's summer I try to get my daughter to drink water so that she shouldn't get dehydrated. But she thinks it's a big joke. She drinks water & then spits it out. she does have wet diapers, not sopping wet, though. I'm concerned that she doesn't have enough liquid in her body. What should I do?

Try adding a drop of juice to her water. Put 1/2 to 1 oz of juice in an 8 oz bottle. Grape juice is the best because it is the most flavorful. Another idea is giving her a special cup, with a straw or something. This is definitely a big concern in the summer time.
Good Luck.

hi- you are right ot be concerned, Baruch Hashem my kids are big drinkers, but I read somewhere that you could take those cheap freeze pops in the thin plastic sleeve, cut it carefully and dump out the junk that is in there. rinse it a little and fill it with a combination of juice and water. don't stress out about her need to drink only water, in the summer you just need her to drink anything. then freeze it standing up in between the bars of the freezer.
give it to her whenever you think she needs a drink- I promise she won't spit it out!
