Hi,
Im looking to do a basic photoshoot of my 2 kids. Can anyone recommend someone or some place that does it for pretty cheap such as sears etc. In the tri state area. It needs to be indoor as the weather is chilly now.
Thanks!

If you have a coupon and don't mind paying the toll...I just took pictures at Picture People at the Staten Island Mall...but I think they have a branch at Roosevelt Field Mall.

I took pics at sears when my son was an infant. I was not happy with the lighting and quality.
When he was 2 I took pics at picture people. They worked very well with him but are a bit expensive. It's a big plus that you get the pics on the spot. They took a gorgeous close up shot where they cut off part of the forehead. I know it's very "in" to do that but my husband didn't like that. You can probably ask that they shouldn't.
This summer I bought a groupon to JC Penny Portraits. I was very happy with the service and the photos we got. Picture People also had a groupon but all the pictures you took from that deal had to be the same photo. Any additional pictures from picture people were also a lot more expensive than jcp.
With the jcp deal I got free sitting fee, a cd with 3 images and 2 photo sheets (can be diff poses). You also get 30% off all additional sheets. They had another option which you get a 16x20 instead of the cd and 2 photo sheets.

I tried googling "sears portrait studio" and got this on the official Sears website:
Quote: | As you may know, Consumer Programs Incorporated (“CPI”), which had operated for many years in Sears’ stores under the name “Sears Portrait Studios” closed on April 3, 2013.
Sears was saddened by CPI’s sudden closure. Since that date, Sears has been working with CPI to try to minimize the impact on customers from CPI’s closure. CPI has since filed for bankruptcy.
In addition, Sears is examining our options for a future portrait offering in our stores. |
I know Sears was going through business troubles.
Another inexpensive photography franchise is Portrait Innovations. They do super cheap deals on printing a single pose, like 40 prints of different sizes + 10 greeting cards + a coffee mug/Xmas tree ornament/tote bag for $14.99. But only a single pose. Once you want more poses, it goes up by like $10 a sheet.
I did DS's upsherin pictures at the Chicago area store and was happy. Looks like the closest ones to Brooklyn are in Clifton or East Brunswick, NJ.
