Wash the steaks, pat dry. Take cracked peppercorns and press into both sides of the meat.
Cook it in a frying pan until it's done how you like it (rare, medium, well-done) and set aside.
Add red wine to the pan and with a wooden spatula deglaze and scrape all the yummy steak bits off the bottom of the pan.
Serve with sauteed mushrooms and onions and mashed potatoes, drizzle the glaze over the steak or potatoes before serving.
It's importnat to do the steaks as close to eating as possible, as they do NOT reheat well (altohugh you can keep them warm while you make the glaze in the oven on a low temp).
Another alternative side dish are steamed fresh green beans and roasted spiced potatoes or wild rice.

that sounds good or you can simply broil them under flame for about 10-15 min on each side after putting some soy sauce and pepper and garlic - same advice of cooking them as close to eating as possible.

I put the raw meat in a container, pour teryaki sauce over & lift it for a second to make sure the other side gets wet too. Then let it sit in the fridge for a while.
I broil it in my oven for 8 minutes on each side. DH loves it. I hate steak.

that's so funny cause I hate steak too - yet I still make it for my kids as a special treat - I make myself a burger then

are there any good cuts that broil well but are not as expensive as say, rib steak or tenderloin?

I always use chuck steak.
I put it in a pan, sprinkle it with minced garlic and spices and onion soup mix, cut up onions and potatoes, place on them top of the meat with spices. Add a little bit of water and cook covered for several hours on 290.
I love it b/c the meat become nice and tender and falls off of the bone.

minute steak is not 'real steak' for people who are carnoviores (me). it's too much for so little. I like top of rib....
