I find making lunch for my boys to be very stressful. I'm looking for some ideas for healthy foods - right now my kids get a sandwich (usually cream cheese, egg salad or tuna fish - they won't eat peanut butter), 2 snacks - bisilli, a fruit, cucumber, pretzels, applesauce, baby corn, almonds, and a juice box and a water. I need new ideas that maybe are a little healthier. My oldest is in school from 8:30 to 4:30 - I never know how much food to send him.

CS, that sounds pretty healthy to me. maybe make a daily menu plan, every day something different. what about baby carrots, raisins, maybe differnt flavours of apple soace, grilled cheese sandwich....

I am not at the stage where I need to make lunches for my kid, but I am sure it is very stressful- remembering how it was growing up. maybe make it the night before , or every sunday evning prepare all the nonperishables for the whole week, in little baggies. hope this is helpful - Good Luck Very Happy

I am not sure if they have to have a Hamotzei but you could give them whole wheat pasta. Mini pizzas might be good too. Good luck. Sounds like you already have good ideas.

they do need hamotzi unfortunately (especially since the oldest doesn't want it). I like the idea of preparing the weeks' snacks on Sunday. And I do give them mini pizzas - thanks for reminding me.

Miriam, we've never tried it - I think I might actually have some in my cupboard - but what do you do with it? Do you actually make a sandwich just with almond butter?

Use it in place of pb. I actually love it with blackberry jelly. We use almond butter instead of pb b/c of allergies. Noone has a direct allergy to it but just in case.....

the way I work it is a drink, a sandwhich, an fruit and a starch. for my oldest who is in school longer, 2 starches.
so like today she got
juice, PB sandwhich on whole wheat, pineapple chunks, corn chips and tam tams.
for fruit ideas:
fresh grapes apples etc..
in the winter months, raisens, pineapple chunks in little tupperwares , sliced peaches/pears, fruit leather (100% dried fruit from health food store)
for starch, granola bars, chips, corrn chips, soy chips, mini rice cakes from hain brand, crackers, tamtams, pretzels popcorn for treats bisli-
the key to preparing luches quikly is to have plenty to choose from. deciding on the snack when your pantry is empty is so hard. I prepare the luch while the kids eat breakfast.
hey I should print out my list and hang it up!
