Early intervention isn't the Board of Ed. it's the Dept. of Health. The Board of Ed. contracts evaluators in all of the special ed. disciplines (speech, ot, pt, psychology, ed, etc..)

What sort of information are you specifically looking for?

im a little confused...
in the board of ed, each evaluation is done by a different person in different fields
a speech eval is done by a speech therapist, ot by an ot, cognitive and academic by a school psychologist etc..

As rain mentioned, each discipline is evaluated by a professional in that specific field. There is no such thing as a generic "board of ed evaluator." When a child receives their educational evaluation, it is done by a special education teacher; their psych eval, by a psychologist; their speech eval, by a speech pathologist; and so on.

That chart is for school psychologists and social workers. School psychologists do the cognitive part and depending on the state, the academic and emotional parts too. In some places, a special ed. teacher or other professional does the academic piece and that person is paid the same as any other special education teacher, as far as I know. Speech Language Pathologists and Occupational therapists do the speech and OT parts of the eval.

Marina, I don't remember ever seeing that schedule before, but when I just read it now, I had to laugh out loud at the example on the bottom worded like a 3rd grade algebra problem.

Amother, I think you would work for the agencies like Yeled VYalda. Why don't you give them a call and ask them?

Just an FYI - from what I've heard, the board of ed isn't really doing much hiring of evaluators or psychologists these days. If they do hire these days, they are looking specifically for bilingual.

I know someone who is an ed evaluator. She is officially a generic special ed public school teacher, but she is part of the Committee Assigned on Special Ed (I think that is what it is called). You would need to have the degrees and certification of a special ed teacher, and apply for the position. From what I understand, they are cutting back in this field, and it is very hard to get the job. Also, it is a regular board of ed job for whatever that is worth.

My mom had a masters in Sp Ed and worked for the Board of Ed for many years - classroom observations, testing, case reviews in a CSE office.
That job is now assigned to psychologists.
My recent experience with a child who aged out of CPSE and transferred to CSE, his therapists (PT,OT,ST and SP Ed) evaluated him. A psychologist then came and observed him and "classified" him (no not as unbelievably cute and personable) and issued a recommendation.
