white fish?
marinate it in soy sauce, brown sugar, salt, pepper and ketchup then bake it on high until done.

I don't think we can get white fish here in Israel. It's just some plain, old fish which isn't nearly as tasty as white fish. Thanks for the idea but to be honest, I don't want to feed my family more sugar and heavy amounts of sodium. I want to go for savory.
Any other ideas?

2 eggs
1/2 - 3/4 c mayo
crispy bake
bread crumbs
mix the 2 eggs & mayo, then mix the crispy bake & bread crumbs, do not add
spices the crisy bake is perfectly spiced ,dip the fish in the eggs mix then in the crumb mix
& fry.

saute chopped onion and garlic in a bit of oil. Add sliced mushrooms and a bit of white wine, then peeled, seeded and chopped tomatoes and a touch of sugar and simmer a couple of minutes. Sprinkle fillets with salt, pepper and thyme if you have, roll up and place on top of the vegetables. Cover and simmer till the fish is ready.

That sounds really nice. I never have white wine around and that's a shame.
Here is what I have in the oven right now:
fish fillets with
chopped parsely
chopped green onion
crushed garlic cloves
1/4 tsp Hawaej Temani
salt.
I hope it comes out good....
I'll have to buy white wine and try yours next time.

I do something really simple with any of those white fillet types - zahavon, marzola, nesichat hanilus, sole...
Let the defrost (or rinse of the ice coating). Then generously sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic, dried dill/parsley/basil. Then drizzle on some lemon juice and a bit of olive oil. Bake at 375-400 F for about 15-20 minutes depending on thickness of the fish. My kids love this.

I mix mayonnaise with lemon juice - about 1/4 cup mayo to 1 Tbsp lemon juice. Spread on fish, sprinkle with black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and dried parsley. Bake for 20-30 minutes.

Maybe it's too late by now, but when I looked up zahavon came out as plaice or flounder. If this is the case (flat, white fleshed fish with bones in centre and sides), the easiest recipe is to dust fillets with seasoned flour (salt, pepper, paprika or cumine) and pan-fry with a bit of olive oil. Make sure the oil is really hot before frying.
Alternatively, you can sprinkle parsley/chopped garlic OR chopped ginger roots and scallion on top of fillets, and steam for 15-20min (depends on thickness) till it's cooked through (ie flakes easily). You can season with combination of equal part soy sauce and vinegar.

I like to wrap flounder individually in a silver foil packet with some lemon juice, oregano, basil, fresh minced garlic, a little thyme, some salt and pepper, a little olive oil. then I bake it on 400 for about 7 min or so.
very healthy and very yummy! even my 7 year old DS inhales it!
another option I sometimes do is dip it in a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, and oregano, a little salt and pepper, then breadcrumbs with some parmesan cheese and bake it for 10 min.

also yummy if you want to make a full meal out of it, DH loves when I chop up potatoes and cook it in a skillet (you can microwave it first a little to make it go faster) with some water, fresh garlic, paprika, salt, and some coriander. when it's pretty much cooked through, I add the fish on top with some more garlic and paprika and a little salt until it's cooked.
when I make it, I add jalapeno peppers or crushed red pepper. but you can leave it out if you don't like spicy (or take the seeds out of the jalapeno peppers). delicious!

I made it my way and the flavor came out ok. But I hated the texture of the fish. It came out mushy
Did I do something wrong? It was a bit gross. It seemed to be flaking and ready. Could it not have been ready?

maybe it was overcooked. how was it in the oven? covered?

I covered it with parchment paper.
So today I just took it out of the fridge and mixed it with mayo and ate it cold. It was fine.

Yes. It might have been undercooked, as you thought. Maybe it was mushy from being covered, too.
