I have perch fillets that I want to cook for supper. Breading and frying them did not go over too well. I think a batter coating would go well. All the ones I found on the web were more or less the same idea. My sister tried one of the recipes and it was pretty blah. Anyone have a good recipe not calling for beer, which I don't have in the house?

Thanks. Im going to make this for dinner. My extremely picky son who eats a total of maybe 6 or 7 foods discovered that he loves fish sticks and told me that He'll try to eat a "big fish stick" if I make it for him. He explained to me he likes it because it has the breading on it. I'll let you know Smile

just found this on cooks.com
1 egg
1 c. pancake mix
8 oz. 7-Up (approximately)
Additional pancake mix
Mix egg, pancake mix and 7-Up together well. Dip thin fish fillets, which have been coated with pancake batter (shake both in plastic bag) and chilled about 20 minutes in mixture. Remove 1 at a time and deep fry for 4 to 6 minutes at about 400 degrees. Remove onto paper towels to drain.

it has great reviews. Maybe I'll try this one. I have whole wheat pancake mix at home, so maybe its a bit healthier Smile In the review someone said they subsituted water for 7up and it came out good.

mynameismom, that recipe sounds like it would turn out pretty sweet. Please let me know if it does. Meanwhile, I think I'll try shoemaker's recipe. Thanks.

shoemaker I made your recipe last night and my son ate a whole big piece!! I was so excited. He asked me to make it next time with breadcrumbs cause he likes the breadcrumbs on fishsticks so that's what I'll try next with him Smile
