Thinking about supplementing my child's learning w. this.

Do I need to buy the card set & the work books? Just one or just the other?

Does it come with lesson plans? Assessment tools?

Any other kits/curriculum you like better?

I've seen the materials and it seems to be a really excellent program. However, I haven't used it myself so I can't really advise re. what to buy. I think it depends on what you want to get out of it. What do you mean by "supplement [your] child's learning"?

If your child is doing OK in school and you think s/he just needs a little extra practice, the workbooks could be enough. The materials are beautiful. But the way I understand it is that it's a complete teaching system: all the components are meant to work together, with the lessons taught in a specific sequence.

I think there is an email address for customer service, you could ask the publisher directly. I've seen it advertised in Hamodia/Mishpacha type places, maybe the address is there.

Thanks. 2 of my own kids really struggle in Ivrit. Dyslexia runs in the family, so it is not so surprising. One is in first grade & making slow progress, below the norm.

The other started Lemudi Kodesh studies last year & is about 2 years behind the grade level. We are trying to catch this kid up.

There is a limit on what I can really do with them after school, since the assigned homework takes a lot out of everyone. I may only be able to use a system like this on breaks & summer when the rest of the work is not pressing down on us. But having an organized system would save me a lot of time, from having to prepare materials etc.

Do you have any idea what grade level it goes up to? I did contact them & they would not be very specific about what grade levels it compares with. (I think, in part, the problem is that every school is different & there are not really grade widely accepted grade level standards, the way there are in American secular education.)

But is it a system that is just for the beginning of learning to read, or would a kid who is learning Chumash already also get something out of it?

It is not a graded program. It's based on phonetic elements and goes from zero to total proficiency, so it would include anyone who is having reading trouble.

It's based on the Orton-Gillingham technique, which has been very helpful to many with dyslexia.
