Has anyone made this? The recipe calls for it to be boiled for 1 and 1/2 hours and then baked for 1 1/2 hours. That seems like a very long time. Id like to make it this week for shabbos but I dont want to ruin it either. TIA!

I find that you can trust KBD recipes, and don't have to worry about them flopping.

I do recall reading about this recipe on another site, and the feedback was positive.

I make this aaall the time.. we love it..I got it from my sister who got it from somenone else, so it was prob lost in translation...
I dont boil the fish, I just bake it for an hour and half.covered.

The Mexican Gefilte Fish that I make might not be the one you are referring to, either way its delicious!
1 loaf gefilte fish
1-2 Cans Tomatoe Sauce (depending how much sauce u want, we like alot so I do 2)
1 Large Onion
2 limes
1 bunch cilantro
Jar of olives (with or without pimento, we like with)

Take fish out of freezer, thaw a drop so u can take off all the wrappings. Dice up onion, saute in oil. Add in tomatoe sauce, and spices if u like (pepper, garlic powerder). Add in chopped up cilantro (I keep it soaking overnight in the vegetable wash..).Add in juice of 2 limes. Keep on low flame and allow sauce to get nice and thick. at least 15-20 minutes. Add in small jar of olives.

Place loaf of fish in a baking dish (allow room for suace, ie.dont put the loaf in a loaf pan..)
Pour sauce all over the fish.
Place in oven @ 350 for an hour and a bit.
Allow to get to room temp before u put it in fridge (btw I recently learned that trick, and all of my food is staying the constistency it shud be bc it gets to room temp!!!)

Is it very hot with the jalapeno pepper? If I dont like spicy foods then should I just leave it out?

You'll still get the flavor without the pepper. Half a jalapeno should be fine, but if you're worried, just omit.
