if you would have a choice
would you choose to be
1. pretty ( above average good looks) and overweight
2. not pretty and skinny

When I got married I was a 10 waist and had a gorgeous hourglass figure (or at least I thought so) If I wore a straight skirt I would have to wear a 12 or 14 bc of my hips. I was the only Kallah I knew who gained 5 lbs before the chassunah so my face wouldnt be too skinny. I never realy wanted to be thinner than that (and that wasnt thin) I felt and looked great.

roight now I'm feeling so heavy and bloated, and I'm not sure if I'm pretty. So, since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I'd like to think I have a nice personality so I can be considered "prettY" in one way or another.

But this overweightness is "weighing" heavily on me, literally. I'm tired of it, and its not so easy to lose it.

Pretty and heavy, to be sure. There are more mirrors and pictures around that show just your face than those that show you just from the neck down! If I recoil from the bathroom mirror, what good will it do me that I have a nice shape?

Oh, that is so vain! Unpretty and slim, of course. Pretty is in the eye of the beholder, but overweight is a threat to health. What good is pretty if you ch"v die young of heart disease, stroke, diabetes or other complications of obesity?

Guess I'll go for ordinary looks and average weight.

ah, but the question wasn't would you rather be rich, thin and unpretty..that's a no-brainer. "Az men is reich, is men shein, un klug, un ken fein zingen!" (when one is rich, one is goodlooking, and clever, and can sing well, too!)

BTW you can most assuredly be too thin, and from a spiritual development standpoint, you can also be too rich. The person who coined that expression --Wallis Warfield Simpson, later the Duchess of Windsor, was both. Also a meeskeit (ugly) of the first order, which was why she fit in so nicely with the British royal family. (Meow.)

As long as we aren't talking about heavy as in obese or unhealthily overweight then I would rather be pretty and heavy.

Everyones different. It depends on your height and build.
I'm just thinking in terms of whats healthy.

I once saw a bumper sticker that said "I may be fat but you're ugly and I can always lose weight" Smile

Truth be told I would rather be thin. Diff. bt. unpretty and ugly also. As long as I dont look like Frankenstein, just not "beautiful". I think guys would rather marry someone thin and not good looking than someone fat and pretty. Most people can only see the size and once they see that they dont bother with the face. I know quite a few overweight people who are rather pretty but no one notices that. They just see the fat part. Sad but true.

I am the person that made the poll
and am pretty suprised so many say pretty and heavy
cause I am considered pretty ( b'h) and am heavy
and people always tell me, your so pretty who cares about your body
and I always say, its not true, once you see the persons body, the pretty face doesnt really help
so I would have rather been average looking and thin
but not ugly and thin, then I would rather be fat

I know a lot of people that are pretty and heavy and dress really well. I think that people look past thier heaviness because they are pretty. (I'm talking about very overweight people). And people who are slightly overweight for sure it is not noticed if they are pretty.
And I think that if you are overweight you can always lose weight. If you are ugly only plastic surgery will work.

That depends how the person looks at it..
an optimist would accept the compliment and feel good..
but s/one like me would think.. she said I have a pretty face.. that means that the rest of my body is ugly.

its Not what you say ! but how you say it !

a person should say " you are pretty "

it sounds much better than sayng you have a pretty face.
