raizy, if its stuff you NEED, like baby things or towels, you can wash them, as far as I know.

As far as I remember when Tisha B'av is on Thursday you are allowed to do washing for Shabbos straight after the fast.

it says in Kitzur Shulchan Aruch Ch. 124: end of par.20 that you can do it starting Friday morning. (Normally you have to wait for after chatzos on the 10th of Av, but Friday is different, bec. of Shabbos).

In Shemiras Shabbos Kehilchasa it says you can do the laundry on Thursday night for Shabbos. In Halichos Bas Yisrael it says institutions etc (I bet they have less laundry than I have Wink ) can wash Thursday night.

In short, ask your LOR, especially if you have a few children.

I also asked and have read that you usually wait until midday on the 10th of Av usually to eat meat, take a haircut, listen to music or do laundry. But, you can do what you need to Friday morning to get ready for Shabbos.

When I first got married I actually saw my sister-in-law doing laundry and iron ON tisha b'av. She said it's ok after hatzot on tisha b'av. Is this a chabad custom I never heard of? Please help - I'm confused

Never heard of it, and I'm Lubavitch. Certainly not a Chabad custom although her particular Rov may have told her it's okay.

My husband told me I could do laundry until "shavua she'chal bo". And yes, I'm doing laundry Friday morning: all the underwear and all the baby's clothes. We're flying to chu"l on Monday, so I don't have much of a choice!

until my 2nd child I didn't have my own machines and sent stuff out.l

it cost a small fortune, the laundromat ruined my clothes and linens, they didn't pretreat or hang to dry like you would at home.
