it was nice, but I don't agree with some things. You can't expect a kid to skip english and just focus on math because he does well in one subject and not the other. Unlike animals, we do not know what kids will or will not be doing when they grow up.
I did agree that being flexible and sensitive to differences is important.

Where did the video say that a kid should skip English and just focus on math because he does well in one subject and not the other? With the duck? I davka thought the video was against that idea...

yeah, with the duck. We are supposed to realize how dumb it was that they made the duck drop swimming to focus on climbing, just like the child who excels at math, but is not good at English.
I liked most of it, this part irked me though.

Excellent, moving video.
While I feel it would be greatly beneficial for all parents and teachers
and administrators to watch this to gain a greater insight of all the different
types of children out there, as a teacher for over 14 years, I have
a couple comments :
1) I have a middle school student who has a hard time writing more than
3- 4 lines in a half hour. While I let her take part of her tests orally, and
do other class papers verbally, in the long run, she has not had the writing practice to succeed.
2) Same if Hebrew/English Chumash is used. Yes, a learning disabled child will enjoy drawing the Perek instead of taking a test or doing her HW, but if she is a few years behind in skills when young, she will be 6 yrs. behind in skills -- or never learn Rashi if so busy spending time on the things she is good at.
3) If the student who had to jump out of her seat every 6 min. disturbs the other 18-20 students in the class -- great, she's happy, but, the other students can't learn.
So, I agree with the video -- focus on their strenghts, as that
is most probably where their talents are. ANd if they like Dance, Choir,
Drama, Art -- make these projects !
However, sometimes we may also harm if they do not read well
when young, we may have missed a window of opportunity
once they are older.
