leave it on the balcony to dry.
if I didn't have a balcony or porch, I would leave it in the bathtub with the window open until it dried.

I have a gizmo for hanging mops and brooms on the wall in a corner of the kitchen. It's probably from Bed, Bath & Beyond or some such place. The mops and brooms are head down so the yucky part isn't looking everyone in the eye.

The kind I have has a removable head that is machine washable so I just put it right in the machine to be washed with the next load (if it's not going to be right away I leave the door open so it doesn't get mildewy).
