lakewoodmom, how do u make egg rolls?

And any suggestions of how to plate teriyaki as a first course. Husband doesn't want it over salad cuz he likes having a lettuce salad during the main.
Also how far in advance can I make it and can I freeze it>its for the 2 day meal--the only meal im making

What about roasted veggies? Slice red onions and colored peppers so they stay in circles. Paint with olive oil and sprinle with salt and broil in a single layer until soft. And then layer in alternates under the fish.

egg rolls:
cole slaw, pastrami, salt, pepper and garlic in a won-ton...and deep fry!

I have to look up my pastrami kishka capons recipe soon...

Chicken soup with kneidlach (my dd's one request for chag)

I'm almost embarrassed to post it as it is so unhealthy, but my family loves it! Our compromise is that we only have it on yom tov and always with brisket.

Cube in 1- 1.5" pieces enough potato to cover a 9x13 pan in a "crowded" single layer (leave the peel on). Put potatoes in a bowl. Add a packet of onion soup mix, 1/2 stick of melted butter and 3 T olive oil to potatoes. Toss until potatoes are coated. Spread over bottom of pan. Place in 400 oven and bake uncovered until crispy. If you remember, you could try turning the potatoes about half way through, but if not then no big deal. Personally, I try to use Yukon Gold potatoes or Idaho's rather than red potatoes.

It says it's great cold and warm and I pretty much agree.

Dough:

4 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 pkg. vanilla sugar (not sure how much that is... I usually put in around 1 T)
1 1/4 c. oil
1 T. baking powder

Filling:

12 cortland apples, peeled and grated (I think you could use other kinds as well)

4. put 1/3 dough on the bottom of pan

If you do that then you need to divide the mixtures more. For making two smaller pans you'll need 6 portions dough and 4 portions filling.

It freezes well. It's fairly sweet but not overly sweet. You can put less sugar in the filling as well if you want a less sweet kugel especially if you use a sweet apple to begin with. (I'm trying this time with 3/4 c. sugar) I just baked mine this morning. I forgot to say how long to bake it. They say a minimum of an hour until crispy. The crispier the better because the apples get somewhat watery to begin. One thing also, I squeeze excess liquid while I'm putting the filling in.

I ended up baking mine in two 5# pans for an hour and a half. It makes everything smell YUM!

Thank you, bashinda! It came out really nicely, and I did it in a 9x13 pan. I don't think of it as a kugel, but it's definitely more a kugel than a crisp. I didn't dump any sugar on the apples and I'm glad because it's very sweet already. I'd love to make small ones for a sheva brochos or shalach manos, it can be very elegant.
