Here's a great pomegranate salad
Baby Leaf / Lettuce
1 pomegranate
1/3 cup of olive oil
2 tablespoons of vinegar
1 teaspoon of sugar (more)
1/2 teaspoon salt
pinch of pepper (optional)
1 small red onion chopped small
1 can of mandarins and juice
caremalized nuts
MIX ALL AND SERVE!
This was served at a barmitzva I went to and everyone (men and women) polished it off. |
This looks great. I assume I can substitute lemon juice for the vinegar? (We don't eat vinegar on R"H. And I have to find out if we eat nuts on R"H.)

Mama Bear, can the vegetable muffins be frozen in advance?
Are they served warm/hot/room temperature etc.
How many does it make?

I originally adapted this from one of Susie Fishbein's books - but long ago forgot the original recipe. I usually sautee onions with cabbage or spinach. I cut puff pastry into squares, and put some mustard on them. I put on raw salmon, topped by the sauteed mixture, and then close in triangular shape. Egg and sesame, and bake til done!

spinach: I think that one is Sheyistalku Soneinu (I'll have to look that one up)
pomegranate: Sheyirbu Zechuyoseinu KiRimon
fresh figs, star fruit and pear apple are just some of the fruits we buy for Shehechiyanu, or just because they are delicious and because we don't usually buy them during the year.

It's shredded cabbage sauteed for about an hour (onions optional), tossed with bow tie noodles, salt, pepper, and sometimes sugar

Quote: | Wow. You can order precooked simanim? How civilised! I presume that's in EY, no? |
Yes, in Israel.
They charge 50 shekels, (about $12??)
and it includes: leek patties, beet-green patties, carrot tzimmes, dates, Krah and black-eyed beans.
I just have to get: Apples & Honey, and Pomegranets.

There's a store called: Brooklyn BaRama.
Do you want their number.
(They're located on Nachal Kishon, in RBS A)
