My daughter and her friends are hosting a sheva brachot here after shabbat this week for one of their class, who is also a neighbour.
(yes we will have a minyan, my son has offered some of his friends, and we have neighbours too)

she has asked me to give a dvar torah. I need something wonderful to say !

Right now I am more involved with the gashmiut of it all, so I would really like any ideas you may have for the dvar torah.

If any of you have heard something that inspired you recently - please let me know.

Thanks

Hila

One of the reasons that Purim will be celebrated after the Beit HaMikdash is rebuilt is because 2 of the 3 Mitzvot we are obligated to do, Mishloach Manot and Matanot L'Evyonim, are Mitzvot "Ben Adam L'Chavairo" (BALC)- between one person and another.

Today, Mitzvot BALC are not done with a Bracha. When you give Matanot L'Evyonim (tzedakah), you might do it to get rid of the schnorer at your door. When you give Mishloach Manot, you might feel you're doing it to prove something to someone, or because you feel obligated that since they gave you, you HAVE to give them. Unfortunately, because more often than not, the average Jew doesn't do Mitzvot BALC with a pure heart, we do these Mitzvot without a Bracha.

Except.

The only Mitzvah BALC done today with a Bracha is the Chuppah, the Jewish wedding ceremony. Because we know, that at that exact moment in time the people performing the Mitzvah of Shevah Brachot are of pure heart - that their intentions towards the Chattan and Kallah are truely what they are saying - Sos Tasis, bring joy and happiness... Sameach Tisamach, gladden the beloved companions.. Asher Barah Sason V'Simcha, He Who created joy and gladness...

To the Chattan and Kallah - may the joy and happiness you shared under the Chuppah burn as brightly and carry you through your many years together.

You'd have to embellish on this slightly but the bottom line of the dvar torah is = why is a mezuzah placed diagnally on a door post??? Either up and down or straight across????

To give over the message of compromise in a home. It's not done only your way or only your husbands way. The Torah home is based on compromise b/w the husband and wife.
