Today I went to buy a b.s. and I knew already I don't have perfect body. I also knew which styles are flattering/not flattering on a woman my size. The crowd that I'm going with is most probably not a bikini/perfect body crowd either so I doubt I'll stick out.
I guess with age comes wisdom - I'm just wondering if frumkeit has anything to do with it ? Anyone ?

I was thinking the same thing.
Maybe I'm just having a super-thick day, but what on earth do the thread title and post have to do with each other?

I think what chocolate moose is saying is that frum women don't have the same pressure to have a bikini perfect body because even if we go to a pool that has all women hours - rarely (if ever) do you see another woman wearing a bikini. As frum women we most likely will wear a one piece or tankini along with the rest of the women that are swimming with us.
So it may be the same challenge buying a bathing suit, I think the difference lies in not having the pressure of having a bikini perfect body.

Oh, I don't know. Women in all-female societies can pretty competitive in the looks department. Go to any all-girls' school. You'd think they'd all be dressing like shmattas, but in fact they're often very style-conscious--as much if not more so than girls in co-ed schools.
Not all women who swim in mixed crowds wear bikinis, or want to.

My biggest investment that "freed" me was the bathing suit dress. I don't mind going mixed swimming with it- I can take my children to public pools and beaches and feel like a person! And actually get wet in the water comfortably! I could care less what others think...they're comfy and style conscious!

Well, they're costly, too. I got mine at KMart for $16.
