I am wearing a light lavender colored gown for my son's wedding and need to get shoes. I don't have anything that would be remotely appropriate and am willing to get something most ideal in color (if I can find it).

In my opinion, the best colors, in order of preference would be (no lavender shoes please):
1) silver
2) pale gray
3) white
4) pale cream
5) black

Do you agree or think otherwise?

I like the silver idea best, but I'm hardly the expert.

Me too. I really don't like black unless you have nothing else though.

*So* glad you found your dress!

Silver. Check Zappos for ideas.

Thanks. My objection is not to the color, but rather that if I'm buying something I'd like something that I've got at least some chance of wearing again.

Thanks. I've been looking. I've got lots of requirements, so it's a little hard.
First of all, flats only, I don't wear heels of any sort. Then, no pointy toes, no open toes, not real low cut style (like the ballet slipper things they show). Also, remember, with a floor-length gown, not much will show.

So far, the best one I've found, and I think at this price, I'll try it is this:
This

What do you think?

Those are very nice. They could go with more things than just a lavender dress...

Very nice, and you can wear silver with basically anything in the summer.

A little too casual, IMHO. What about something like this:

or this (even though its ivory)

http://piperlime.gap.com/brows.....61002

or these

http://piperlime.gap.com/brows.....23002

Can you deal with a *tiny* heel?

Or just a plain satin flat

what type of jewellery are you wearing? if silver coloured, get silver shoes, if pearls, then ivory.

Thanks, but most of those links are shoes that are much too low cut (ballet style) for me too wear (I am very flat-footed) or too ornamented for my taste. I don't mind wearing something simple and plain (since not much of it will show) as long as the color is right (and of course comfort is too).

That's an interesting thought. I really don't know yet. Off hand (I don't have the dress here yet) I'm not sure what color the beading on it is. If it's pearl colored, then I'd wear pearls. If not, I'm not sure. I'll have the dress here later this week and will have to consider that. Thanks.

Thank you, but I don't wear open shoes or sandals (tznius reasons). I think those are pretty, but even if I would wear an open style, they wouldn't give my (flat feet) enough support.

Bubby, this looks like what you picked out, but a little "strappier".
