I've seen references on imamother to a "pant/skirt" piece of clothing worn in Israel. Nicole described in the Ramat Beit Shemesh thread as a "weird pantaloon type skirt/pants." This doesn't seem to be just skirts over pants, but a single piece of clothing.
Can someone point me to a picture or something? I've never encountered this piece of clothing (I'm in the US), can't picture what it looks like, and can't find it in a web search (probably because I don't know what it's really called).
I'm just curious. I'm not interested in bashing unless it's really remarkably hideous. (kidding)
Thanks for indulging a silly question!

I don't think this is what you meant. It looks like a regular pair of pants with a short skirt over it. It's a very new dati look.

No, that's not it.
I'll post at the end of the day. My daughters and I have this.
It's pants with flared legs (so it can look like a long skirt, depending on how you stand) with an attached over skirt that falls anywhere from just above the knee to several inches below the knee.

this is the best I could find now.
I have seen women wearing styles like this. Can't find one of the pantaloons...

I have something like that. It's not a skirt over pants, it's just really baggy pants (as in, both of my legs could fit into a single pants leg). The pants are cut to look like a skirt, and it's taken people a while to realize it's not a skirt when I'm wearing it around them.
I have no pictures, sorry.

You're talking about long culottes
which I also have.
I believe what the OP is asking about is these exact type of pants, but with a skirt attached to it.

Maybe she is talking about those long skirt with the elastic around the ankles? I doubt I could find a picture but it is definitely something I have only seen here unlike the long culottes or skirts over pants.

I think she means those skirts that either have a seem a the bottom with holes for each ankle. Or they are closed a little bit above the ankle.
They call them Aladin pants in Israel, think like in the movie Aladin, but with the fuller skirt part longer than the knee most times.
Something like this:

Many times this would be worn under a skirt.
I own one pair.

How do you add a picture?????
I'm not sure I like them too much either, some of my neighbors wear them, it can look really good on some figures.

Frankly I don't know what I meant! But it sounds like this really was two things: the skirt attached to pants (I think this is cute) and the Aladdin pants. I'm not sure what I think of those. They kind of remind of me MC Hammer.
Thanks everyone for clearing up this little mystery for me!

I wish I had taken a picture for you! Just came back from Israel and all the young women are wearing them! It basically looks like a regular pair of loose fitting pants with a thin skirt over it. It's different, but cute!

The Aladin pants remind me of our Bais Yaakov school play costumes.

where I live some young women wear skirts over pants or over midlength leggings. Looks dreadful. Three or four inches of leggings sticking out under a skirt, as if this will "kosherize" a skirt that's too short, and the pant-and-skirt combo--ugh. It would be one thing if the pants and skirts matched, or if the pants matched the shirt and the skirt contrasted. Women of Middle Eastern and Indian/Pakistani background wear beautiful outfits that look like dresses or long tunics over narrow-legged pants, in stunning fabrics, but they don't just grab any old tunic and any old pants. What I see the young Jewish women wearing looks like they grabbed any old pair of pants and any old skirt and threw them on. That may be fine for a snowball fight or cleaning out the garage, but, please...

Salwar kameez! I love them. I believe Yemenite Jewish women wear something similar. I'd love for this to be an accepted way of dressing. They're practical, look nice, and are very tzanua (when made to be, of course).
