thats what I think too! but I have gotten comments about how "HIGH" my heels are. how high are these for example: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.lux.....1.png
I wear that "height" often and am told how high my shoes are. maybe they are higher than 3 inches and I never noticed?

this is kindof what my "business attire" style (not as high of a heel) pumps look like http://www.zappos.com/images/7.....d.jpg

Gorgeous shoes. I would consider the first to be quite high, but clearly they're not everyday shoes. The second are getting towards high, but still a professional look (IMHO).

lol Smile
thanks for the compliment haha
the first ones are very high, but 4 hrs one night per week (or day, or 2 hrs 2x/wk, whatever the scenario might be), they are doable if they are comfortable. the key is finding a designer that fits you best. and more expensive doesnt necessarily mean better fit, mossimo at target=really comfy, while jimmy choo=I cant stand for more than 2 minutes in those shoes and wear them if you paid ME the $650.

I'm sure she was kidding.

I'm not entirely certain. (I prefer the term "slut," btw. Wink )

In my clueless youth, a friend of mine told me that some religious fanatic--or maybe a guy she went out with--told her she was wearing "pritzusdik" shoes. I couldn't at that time fathom the idea of a "pritzusdik" shoe. I mean...your feet? Who the heck looks at your feet, outside of certain aberrant individuals with disorders listed in the clinical psych manual?

Since then, I have come to see that a shoe can in fact be pritzusdik--and some of those shoes are worn by women who are otherwise very modest, or pretend to be. Maybe they're as clueless as I was and just think those shoes are "pretty". Maybe they do sense that the shoes are provocative but consider them acceptable because feet are not ordinarily considered "naughty" body parts.

Thirty years after the "pritzusdik shoes" story, I understand that there is no body part that cannot be made deliberately provocative, and no body part that someone will not think is being flaunted with evil intent, even if it isn't. So I wouldn't be at all surprised by anyone who would instantly consider a woman in stilettos to be of questionable virtue--or at least of questionable tznius. Not being personally acquainted with mommalah, I can't say whether or not she is of that group.

Yes, most of the women I see with really high (and narrow) heels walk as if on a tightrope.

There is one woman in my neighborhood who wear looong thin heels, nude tights, a tight skirt that reaches mid-knee when she stands still, a skin tight top and a messily-layered dirty blonde sheitel that reaches past her shoulders. She looks so ridiculous, thinking she is so hot but walking like a walrus.

ss321, the heels in the first pic are quite high. One could probably wear them if she is not taller than 5'3" or so. The second pair is still way too high for me (I do flats or maybe one inch wide heels) but are elegant.

My MIL was once walking down her front steps wearing pointy heels and a lacy skirt. Her heel impaled the lace on her skirt and she fell, breaking her thumb. Sad

I understand sacrificing for beauty, but there is a limit as to how far one should go and how often.

Definitely higher than 3 inches, but I love those shoes! I actually have ones that are very similar with a much lower heel. I love Zappos because you can narrow by heel height, though it's frustrating because recently I was looking for a specific type of shoe and couldn't find anything I liked that wasn't 4+ inches. Heels rule these days.

But those two definitely are not whorish either.

cassandra and gamzu its so funny that u guys consider them HIGH!! to me, that is the most comfortable shoe to wear to a wedding. I guess its all relative and all what you are used to

these

look high to me. but maybe its just the platform that makes them look so much higher than some of my own shoes?

I think that high heels are way too attracting. Why are you wanting people to look at your feet anyway? A nice pair of earrings and a pretty smile are all you really need. Very Happy

Where I live we have very steep hills, like in San Francisco. When I see very high heels (especially the ones with pointy toes), I can't help but think "Either she drove to shul and parked around the corner, or she's carrying the other pair of shoes, and there's no eruv." It's strange to see the rows of shoes in the shul coat room, like it's an extension of your own personal closet, that's just weird!

Well, why do you want people to look at *anything* Wear a pototo sack with sleeves, no makeup, hack-job of a sheitl or the ugliest tichel you can find, no jewelry, clodhopper shoes. Once you say *no, its OK for X to look attractive* then there is no reason that everything else shouldn't.
