wanted to update: well one of my kids ate it and loved. "it's better than blintzes! it's better than cheesecake! can you make this for shavuos?" of course I don't think she's ever really eaten blintzes, but it was cute. The other kids were not going there.

so u bake it on what size pan? a cookie sheet?
thamks so much |
You make the box like the directions. Then bake it in a cookie sheet. One box per 2 cookie sheets.
Or you can make one box of white cake mix and mix cocoa in 1/2 to make it chocolate. This would make one cake. You would bake each flavor in its own cookie sheet.
Bake cakes at 350 for about 10 minutes. Grease and four pans well so the cake doesn't break.
then to assemble the cake you do like this. this is for 2 sheet cakes. If using 2 boxes of icing you repeat this for a second cake:
1. cut each cake lengthwise in half.
2. Place 1 white cake layer on a large cookie sheet.
3. Spread with 1/3 cup chocolate icing
4. top with choc cake layer
5. spread with 1/3 cup choc icing
6. Repeat ending with the chocolate layer
Set aside remaining icing.
Place cake in freezer for 1 hour or until chocolate filling is firm.
Follow the directions on my link above for cutting. Here is how my directions describe it:
1. Place frozen cake on work surface with long side parallel to edge
2. With long serrated knife slice cake diagonaly in half from upper rear corner to lower front corner to make 2 long triangles
3. With pancake turners place 1 cake half on a platter, cut side facing outward
4. Spread with 1/3 cup frosting on uncut side of the half
5. Gently press the uncut side of the second cake to the frosted part of the first half on platter to form a triangle.
6. Frost with remaining icing.
7. Sprinkle cake with 1 tbsp cocoa or pour on glaze
8. Refrigerate (or freeze) until ready to server
Makes 16 servings. abour 435 calories per serving.
I made a mistake above with the icing:
After refrigerating the icing mix the chilled icing until thick with an easy spreading consistency on medium-high speed.

you could use choc or coffee flavored
Ganizzy is right that in America Dunkin hines makes a great parve whipped icing that would work great with little work. Plus it tastes great!
