What kind of cheese is "pizza cheese?"
Is it a soft cheese or a hard cheese?

Interesting...I never knew the difference between the "shredded pizza cheese" and "shredded mozerella cheese" so I always just bought what was cheaper!

you can use whatever you want and see how it comes out. I have put a mixture of chedder, feta and parmesan on pizza. Almost any cheese will melt and taste good. Traditionally mozzarella or chedder are used, but any hard-ish cheese should work.

Maybe I'm wrong or google's wrong, but when I googled I read something about pizza cheese being different than mozzarella in the way that it's made, so that it will melt quickly.

I'm a bit confused about this whole thing, because I don't wait 6 hours for fleishigs after eating pizza, but if the cheese is mozzarella and cheddar than I should.

See what happens when you grow up waiting 6 hours for all cheese?

Mozzarella is actually a very soft cheese and it's a debate among cheesemakers if it should be classified as a hard cheese at all.

I've been told, at least twice, that Parmesan is a hard, aged cheese and one must wait 6 (or 3) hours after it. Cheddar and mozzerella are not hard cheeses, though.

Parmesan as well as aged cheddar are hard cheeses.
Some Poskim hold that once it is cooked/melted it loses its "hardness", and therefore you do not need to wait before eating meat.

mozzarella is considered a "semi-soft" cheese ... which means it's also semi hard ... anyways it's considered a hard cheese and is the usual kind one uses for pizza unless one is trying to conserve the cost ... as for waiting - if you wait 6 hrs you wait for pizza too (so I've heard)

that's what I thought too!

and the issue of waiting 6 hours, if I remember correctly what I've learned in school ages ago, applies to aged cheeses that are usually imported.
