your son to be rivkah in the mock wedding and dress up in a kallah costume? Ds is the only volunteer says the Morah because he wants the prizes. I need to let her know tomorrow morning.

I think I would allow my son to do that.

LOL! Your DS sounds like a practical kid.

In the school where I teach, they use large dolls to play Yitzchak and Rivka, and the kids are all there to celebrate.

I wouldn't, especially not if your child is above the age of chinuch for this.

I recall reading that R' Moshe Feinstein said that girls shouldn't wear pants from five since by that age they clearly understand the difference between boys clothing and girls clothing and should start being educated not to dress in men's clothing.

It seems like the same should apply in reverse.

However, I do not have the source in front of me and in our family we are makpid on beged ish/isha from birth so it was never an issue for me.

sure, sorry.

one is everything Atali said. we are also careful from the beginning.

the second is more social. if all the other boys don't want to do it, the last thing (I as a parent) would want to risk is something that could turn into a big teasing/joking bout that could really hurt someone's feelings. it's not like there were two or three or ten kids volunteering. no one else wanted it. I just think it *could* turn into *something* on a bad day for someone else, you know what I mean? that's all.

on the reverse side as kids we often acted men parts. Obviously in robes. I made a particularly mean and nasty antiochus one year.

I think the issue is the clothing, not pretending to be the opposite gender.

However, the Rebbe was against pretending to be a "bad guy" in a school play, but that is for a different thread.
