| |
In the fall my dd who is now 3 yrs old, had a cough. I took her to an allergist and he said it was a seasonal cough and wanted to put her on singular. But I saw bad side affects online so I held off since we were at the end of that season anyway and it did go away.
But then it came back this spring and I hate seeing her coughing so much. I wasn't sure if I should see an allergist or pulmonoligist but I was told by pediatrician it was not in her lungs.
So we went to allergist who said use singular.
Can anyone advise me, I am very anti medication if I can avoid it...the side effects of it seem so scary (I always read the packets...)
I started it on her and her cough has improved.
But since she started it she has also been running 100-102 temp! For 4 days now. Dr. said its viral.
I am nervous to keep her on it. Please help me.
Dr. said she would be on it about 2 months now - he said end of June the season ends.

The fever is something not related to the cough. And I highly doubt the medication caused the virus. I'm not sure why you're equating one with the other.
If the medication is helping, please keep her on it. _________________

OP
Yea I wasnt thinking fever was related was just saying she was ill and so I couldnt really tell if she was getting any side affects because she wasnt herself anyway.
The side affects looks so scary - mood swings, irregular heartbeat etc.
But yes the cough seems to have resolved. So I suppose she will stay on it.
The allergist said we didnt need a pulmonologist so I dont think they are claling it asthma rather a seasonal allergy...
She is up to date on all vaccines, thanks.
