Lakewood

I'm considering moving to Lakewood from Brooklyn. My DH learned in Kollel for a couple of yrs. and now works. Just curious, I know there's a lot of hype about it, but will it really be so difficult to get my kids into school?

Op it depends on a lot of things. There were people from Brooklyn who moved to Lakewood and got into the best schools with the dh wearing jeans.
1. if you have pull that is the best.
2. if you fit in and are yeshivish and fit into Lakewood and not just moving because it is cheaper then you might have to work on it but you can get in.
3. If you don't strive to get into the best school you will have an easier time.
4. Boys are easier than girls.

thats cute, I was just telling DH we should totally move to lakewood cuz rent is soo much cheaper! but yes I heard that there are some issues there.

Hey, Brooklyn tranplant to Lakewood here. I don't have school age kids yet, but boys are NOT easier than girls. The only family I have here are all boys. Some of my nephews had pull, others are having a hard time....check back in a few months, my sis is about to start registration for my nephew, no pull that I know of, so we'll see....Other than that, I like Lakewood very much. I miss the convenience of Brooklyn sometimes, and I don't love everything about this town, but I bought a house with a HUGE backyard (not possible in brooklyn)!!!! My kids will grow up with grass and trees....what a novelty! I am worried about schools, but I have some time....
