| my 8 month old refuses to eat anything. he resists having anything put in his mouth and will gag and throw up if I force it in there, even like a drop of applesauce. also, he has never mouthed objects, toys, etc. he nurses well so im not concerned about his nutrition but I would like to deal with this if it will be a problem. does anyone (maybe a ST) have any tips I can try? TIA.

| I would definitely suggest you check it out with a pediatric feeding specialist. That could be a speech or occupational therapist. If you post your location maybe someone here can make a suggestion. Good luck.

im not ready to go that route yet and get him evaluated. im actually pretty connected in the EI world as far as which agency and evaluator, etc. thank you though.
I was just hoping that maybe someone could give me a few tips to try myself first.

If you are familiar with the EI process, then you can understand the responsibility you have to get your child evaluated. Defensive tactile behavior *is* an indicator of future developmental delays, you owe it to your child to do what's right. _________________ “Floss only the teeth you want to keep.”

| Without seeing the child it is hard to diagnose or give ideas. I am a therapist and it's important to have your child evalated. Hatzlacha!

is this the first time you try to give your baby real food?
I knwo it took about 3 weeks of transittioning from mommys milk to real food for my son to like it.
its a different texture in the mouth taht they are just not used to..it even says it on the cereal boxes that babies will hate it at first..
if he does contine more than a while I would def check it out... you dont loose anything

| She said he's not mouthing toys either. You can try first by playing a game with him. Use a toy and try to tap it on his face, then get closer to the mouth- just to see if he can tolerate touch near his mouth.... Again, it's more important for you to have him evaluated and a therapist will be able to give you ideas.
