I am looking for a nice appetizer that I can use for a Sheva Brochos - It needs to be something on the table when everyone walks in.

Something cheap and not hard to prepare.

TIA

You can buy it. If you want to make it ( it will probably come out cheaper), I can find out how to do it. I know a couple of people that did it.

Grocery? Maybe they come frozen and you have to bake them?

Buy corn Tortillas and bake them draped over an upside down ramekin (spray with baking spray first.)

You can buy soft round tortillas, drape them over oven proof soup bowls (upside down) and bake for a few minutes.

What about a corn beef salad. On each place there is a layer of angel hair pasta, lettuce, chopped corn beef, croutons and a dressing. It looks really pretty and tastes good.

Or in the summer a fruit soup is very refreshing.

You can take either eggroll wrappers or small round tortillas. You can either bake them or deepfry them. PM me for details.

You can also do salmon skewers, which is a cube of salmon, a small button mushroom, a slice of zucchini and cherry tomato or red pepper and repeat the order so that you have two of each on the skewer. Then you can either pour Mikee Sesame Teriyaki sauce over the cubes, or make your own Teriyaki marinade with teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, ketchup and sesame seeds. I serve it on a bed of angel hair pasta that I prepare by cooking the pasta, pouring 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/3 cup oil over it and mixing well. Then I slice in some scallions and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Looks professional and easy to make. Oh, and when I make it, it gets finished to the last drop.

sunshine! - you and I are from different worlds. I am not so fancy. I think I will go with the salad in the taco shell. My sister-in-law just offered to do the taco shells for me.

ou can also do a fruit cup from canned fruit which looks nice and is pretty cheap. I just used a few months ago when I made theese phylo cups that were in the grocery prbaked I made a turkey salad made of crasin and mandarin orange and prepacked turkey breast and scallion and a slight dressing very colorful simple and cute everyone loved and I also filled a shell with a sweet pot filling to make the plate overly colorful not really neccesary. The shells are cute and come in 3 colors a plain one which is white a red one thats tomato and a green spinach one.

I like the idea of the colorful shells - what company makes them?

We make that salad, put usually use pastrami instead of corned beef and chinese rice noodles instead of croutons. It is good.

You can buy for certain bakeries the fried shells-comes in a few sizes and put salad in it-it's nice and good.

I'll be doing a Friday brunch Sheva Brachot and I'll be doing melon kebabs with a yogurt dipping sauce as appetizer.

I took puff pastry and cut into heart size shapes (with a cookie cutter) and then poured a mushroom sauce over them. Easy and cheap.
