Can anyone help me prepare a good sheva brochos menu?

It has to be chalavi. Kallah is a vegetarian. And no spinach(she's allergic).

I don't want to spend a fortune on it, but I want it to be nice.

mini vol au vents for starters, filled with mushrooms, cheeses etc
a nice dairy soup, onion, mushroom, etc. with garlic bread, croutons etc.

A nice fish for main, with good side dishes, quiche etc.
maybe lasagna roll-ups?
Caesar salad on table.
iced coffee.

dessert , can be a nice ice cream, with a side dish of warm apple crumble.

very basic ideas but good food.

Cold soup for a starter--vichycoise, gazpacho, or fruit soup

Baked/poached salmon feeds a crowd and looks very impressive garnished.
Stuffed baked mushroom or red pepper halves (you can use regular bread or challah or cornmeal-based stuffing for chicken/turkey, or couscous or rice mix)
Pasta "bar" with a few different sauces? (tomato-based, cream-based, and roasted vegetables)

by every seat have a strawberry drink in the fluted cups with a thin straw and a strawberry slice on the side of the cup a cheese blintz with strawberry sauce on top

then make a cream of asparagus or zucchini or broccoli soup

have a choice of lasagna or fish with a scoop of mashed potatoes, a carrot muffin, and blueberry tarts

have Caesar salad and cold coffee in middle of the table

dessert peal and cut apples in half dip the round side of the apple in oil and coat with an equal mixture of ground nuts and sugar bake 1/2 hour - this should be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with an oreo cookie sticking out (Blooms sells a kosher oreo cookie)

Strawberries are pretty much out of season here, although last week I did see them in the Shuk.

Fresh asparagus is terribly expensive and I've never seen frozen or canned.

Frozen blueberries are also terribly expensive and the only place I've ever seen blueberry pie filling is at Rami Levi.

I'll be making a Friday brunch Sheva Brachot next week.

I plan on having watermelon and green melon kebabs with a honey and vanilla yogurt dip.

Main course will be buffet - fettuccini and mushrooms in cream sauce, broccoli quiche and Mexican casserole.

Side dish will either be a fresh garden salad or a crudite platter of sliced veggies (I'm leaning towards the salad) and a couple different dressings. Not sure if I need another 'side dish' and if I do, I have NO idea what I should make.

Dessert will most likely be chocolate truffle brownies.

I'll also most likely buy small baguette rolls and make garlic bread.

This one will be a piece of cake.

The last time I did Friday Sheva Brachot I did it at my aunt's place in Har Nof. We did it for very good friends.

Unfortunately I committed to doing it before we realized that it would coincide with what should have been the second day of insemination for an IUI cycle. Rather than cancel last minute, we decided to forgo the second insemination.

That was our successful IUI cycle. The Chattan and Kallah were Kvatterim for our son.

At least this time, we're not in the middle of fertility treatments and we're doing it at our home.

No worries Smile The ideas were pretty good, just not practical for us in Israel Smile...

Although melon-apricot yogurt smoothies might be a good idea...

I have twice done Friday lunch sheva brachos in my home, each time for close to 100 people. The last one was around 14 years ago, so I don't remember the whole menu. I know the main course was baked white fish in tomato sauce (cooked with vegetables) and some kind of rice. I have no recollection at all of the appetizer or dessert, but the fish is delicious.
