Smelly ears

for some reason my 4 month old ds's ears smell weird. almost like spoiled milk. I know the ears, nose, and throat are connected but I though that everything drains down not up. has anyone else ever noticed this?

Does your ds have chronic ear infections? If yes-then it may be due to cholesteotoma. From the negative ear pressure-causes pocket in the ME and fluid forms that eats away at the ear-causing a strong odor.

I've seen an older kid whose ear smelled because of allergies. Also maybe some spit up got in/on her ears. sounds funny but if she spit up stuck her face in it and turned her head it could happen.

Check behind his ears, he probably has a rash - it gets moist and oozy, and needs to be cleaned and wiped dry very well every day. You may need to get a cortizone from your doctor.

bh bh he has never had an ear infection. there is no rash behind his ears either.

earwax is not the most pleasant-smelling material on this earth, either.
