mimi, I have to admit that your maude/archie post led me to watch quite a few All in the Family episodes on You Tube while folding laundry, etc... this week. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. OMG that show was so funny.
The episode where Archie meets Sammy Davis Jr. ... hysterical!
The episode where Archie saves the life of someone in his cab... I won't say what happens but I laughed so hard I cried. _________________ "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why its called "the present."

Mimi, that was so funny. Gotta love Archie! I watched this show as a child and was unaware of the political messages going on. I just thought the humor was funny.
Now as an adult... I find it funnier b/c I get the show's point, but it does bother me that that's how people with conservative values are generally portrayed... closed minded and dumb... even in the late 70s/early 80s when this show was on.
(P.S. If you want to split your sides laughing, go watch the episode called Archie the Hero.)
