mimi, I have to admit that your maude/archie post led me to watch quite a few All in the Family episodes on You Tube while folding laundry, etc... this week. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. OMG that show was so funny.

The episode where Archie meets Sammy Davis Jr. ... hysterical!

The episode where Archie saves the life of someone in his cab... I won't say what happens but I laughed so hard I cried.

Abe Vigoda wasn't in the clip I posted...don't blame me!
But he is very happy you recognized him, I'm sure..

(wait, you mean the Chabad Telethon clip...I don't think that guy's Abe Vigoda)

Mimi, that was so funny. Gotta love Archie! I watched this show as a child and was unaware of the political messages going on. I just thought the humor was funny.

Now as an adult... I find it funnier b/c I get the show's point, but it does bother me that that's how people with conservative values are generally portrayed... closed minded and dumb... even in the late 70s/early 80s when this show was on.

(P.S. If you want to split your sides laughing, go watch the episode called Archie the Hero.)

but Norman Lear, although liberal, was equal opportunity humorist..

if you want to have a good laugh at pretentious liberals check out You Tube's Maude and the Radical

Oh mimi, I just watched this while I was folding the laundry... I got a few good chuckles out of it! Very funny. Thanks for the recommendation.
