Baby's growth

Has anyone experienced this before? My baby was growing about an inch a month and then slowed down to a 1/2 inch. Now baby didn't grow at all for 2 months???Just wondering if anyone went through this, what you did and what end up happening?

this didn't happen to me...but just know babies do grow most the first few months. how old is your baby? also - looking back at my baby book, it looked like I SHRUNK one month. Since a baby can't stand up tall, the measurements might not even be 100% accurate -- if he's bent a little, etc, when the dr measures....
I wouldn't worry too much - unless he's not gaining, as well, or your dr tells you to worry!

My baby's now 11 months, we're going to the doctor soon to see his progress....hope he's grown, if not we're going to start looking into specialists...

The important thing is the growth curve over time. Sometimes you go in for a well check up right before or right after a growth spurt, and this can skew the impression, which is why short term growth isn't too much of an issue. Your pediatrician should be able to tell you what's significant and what isn't. For example, one of my children was only 14 lbs at 12 months (despite at one point early on putting on 2 lbs in 2 weeks) but her growth curve was absolutely normal, and my pediatrician was rightly able to show us that she is perfectly normal, just petite. Another of my children was 16 lbs at 6 months, but already she was able to lable him failure to thrive (correctly-he turned out to have a life-threatening GI condition) because the growth curve was not right. My youngest had a funny looking little glitch to his growth curve at a year, and when the pediatrician pulled out his older siblings' charts and compared them, all his older brothers and sisters (except the one with the GI dis) had exactly the same little "dip" at the same age. So obviously it's just normal for my kids.

Anyway, my point is that it's definitely the big picture here that's the important thing, not weight gain on a daily basis.

Oh, I should maybe mention that my youngest stopped growing at 11 months and for the next 2 months lost weight every time he was seen--it turned out he had an IgE allergy to dairy which we had just introduced. Since we cut out all milk he has started gaining weight again. So if there's a particular food that had just been introduced before the change in growth, that might be the culprit if there really is a problem.

Thank you elisecohen for your reassurance and your advice. My doc. did say though , last month, that if he doesn't grow by the next month, he would be a little concerned. That making it 3 months with no growth. We'll be going very soon... thanks!
