A friend passed away and the levaya is on Purim. I'm sooooo sad.

How do I integrate the simcha of Purim and the sadness of a levaya ?

Oh Dear!! If it's the same person I know, I'll be there too! It is very devastating news and a big blow to his family and friends here in our community. I also question how do you go on that very same day to be B'simcha in the spirit of Purim. All I can draw on is how the FIve Towns went ahead with their annual dinner the same day as their tragic news and that is how the family wanted it. But saying it and doing it are miles apart. Hashem must have rachmanus - AD MOSAI!

The Rebbe taught us to cry "Ad Mosai" with gut wrenching tears and at the same time to dance with joy "Hiney Ze Ba" that Moshiach's arrival was imminent...

Last week about 600 friends of the 5 Towns shluchim returned from a levaya, wiped their tears, put on their nicest clothing and went to a dinner where there was dancing - true, joyous dancing as if they were at a wedding...

Two years ago Crown Heights lost a true friend on Purim morning. I'm sure R' Shimshon was laughing as he entered shaarei shamayim watching his friends and neighbors attend his levaya dressed in funny hats, wigs, masks and costumes...

How are we to explain Hashem's mysterious ways?? I wish I knew.

May Hashem grant you the chizuk you need.

My grandfather's levaya was on Purim, 2 years ago. It put a damper on everyone and everything, and I don't think we felt very happy for the rest of Purim. I do not have advice.
