Does she have reflux? Many kids with acid reflux have a strong breath smell. It's the acid they burp up.
Also many kids this age have a bacteria in their mouth causing this smell. It usually goes away on its own. I'd check it out with a doctor just to be safe. I doubt its her teeth that smell. _________________

| It's usually not. It's usually what the person ate. Brush under her tongue if you can.

Is she a thumb-sucker? I read that can cause bad breath and you need top wash hands more frequently to help stop the smell. _________________ Don't worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you

| The smell is probably coming from her digestive system, unless she has rot in her teeth (not likely but if she constantly has a bottle of juice with her, then maybe). Babies of this age should not use toothpaste because they swallow it.

you could use a teensy drop of toothpaste - barely enough to just rub around ... also brush her tongue _________________ don't wonder why people go crazy ... rather wonder why we don't

Definately check it out with the doc. It usually is a gastro problem.
About the toddler toothpaste, I use the OralB fluoride free, safe to swallow, toddler toothpaste.
Do not attempt even a tiny bit of regular toothpaste. Even a small amount of fluoride can be harmful to a toddler.

it doesnt sound like any of these things
by toothpaste I meant flouride free
she hardly ever drinks juice
she does not suck her thumb
and she used to have reflux
but she finally got over it and we took her off the medicine about 6 mnths ago
I guess I'll ask her dr.

I guess I'll ask her dr. | Could it be that she isn't digesting
a food group (say, dairy?) properly? That can make quite a stink!

Last time we had this with DS we discovered that he had a MEGA infection (trauma related) in his gums. Infection was brought under control, smell went away. _________________ Emmanuel Tzvi: 26 Shevat 5766
