What do you know about editing?

How would someone go about becoming an editor? What kind of degree or training is necessary?
Any info would be helpful.

Nothing, just a passion for the paper you are producing. You should be prepared to read and reread every line many times to make sure it's perfect. Also, creative use of the thesaurus is a plus!

It's a tough business to break into. b'h I had a kind of internship in NY so I could build up my resume. You should have an English B.A. or something equivalent. I hear there are some courses that may accredit you. I don't have any info about that. you can google it. I just worked my way up and it took literally years before I found anything steady. But if you are determined, are willing to take small jobs just to build up your resume, and have the expertise it can be done.

there is an editing course at beit berl, just outside of kfar saba. I think its a one year course. you should get in touch with them. good luck.
