I know it's not even tu b'shvat but reading all those posts about MM gets me
thinking about Purim seudah planning. Any suggestions/feedback welcome:

1. Time: Since Purim is on Tuesday and we live chutz, I know quite a good
number of our guests will be working that day. Do you think it's realistic to
start around 3pm? Or should I delay more like 4pm? We should be daavening
mincha much earlier like 1:30pm and I think shkiah is around 6pm.
(I'm still recovering from the last year's erev shabbat seudah t trauma...)

2. What to serve: Always an issue in our household. I'd like to make it meaty
(it's a seudah after all, I got persian lamb stew recipe) but DH and the kids
want milky (esp kids asking for hamantaschen-shaped filled pizza followed by
ice-cream). Or go neutral and stick to parve (baked salmon, pasta bar, or I can
do sushi)?

3. Themed? I'm not a big themed-purim person, but tempted to do a themed
seudah, something exotic like either Indian or Hawaiian. I really wanted to do
Indian AND Ethiopinan to make it "mei hodu vead kush" but can't think of Ethiopian
recipe. What do you think?

we start our seuda at about 5 pm. maybe tell people to come at 4.30 so you will be sitting down and eating by 5. I think 3 is too early...people are busy on purim even if they are not working, delivering mm and hearing megilla.

indian and etheopian sounds fun! google and I'm sure you will find some good ethiopian recipes. Indian is yummy too - and there is something similar to kreplach you can make.

maybe you can serve hamantash pizza and ice cream for lunch? or the night before after the fast? I think the seuda should be meat.

Thanks for suggestions. For Indian, I don't feel confident enough to do it myself so probably will order something from Moses Tandoor. Well, samosas do look a bit like hamantaschen, no?

on www.allrecipes.com you can do a search by cuisine. I'd imagine they would have Indian Cuisine, and Ethiopian Cuisine.
Check it out.
Everything can be rated by others. I look for recipes that have alot of ratings, and good ratings.

You miiiiiight ask your rov if most of the seudah has to take place while it's still day. I know that many wash at shkiyah but that doesn't mean it's correct to do so.

I would do miHodu...an Indian appetizer, possibly turkey (hodu) main, ad Kush, an Ethiopian dessert.

how about making some Hershey kushes for dessert?

I once made them for something. You can get a mold in stores like Peppermill.
Or you can buy the real ones if you use them.
