Light sleeper

Ds is a very light sleeper and wakes up from anything - from my baby crying, an ambulance passing to a light touch. He ends up waking up way too much thru the night. Any suggestions?

I was considering buying a noise machine. Has anyone used it successfully? Suggestions on good models please?

I'm at my wits end trying to get him to sleep thru the night!!

two of my sister-in-laws use the white-noise machines and love them. I was thinking of trying one, but B"H my ds outgrew his "wake up at every noise" stage. Hopefully that will happen to you too. Until then, try the machine. Good luck!

I use a white noise machine for my son and it is amazing. I bring it along whenever go away and I never have to worry about people making noise, never have to ask people (and kids) to be quiet. definitely worth it to get one! I forgot which model we have... I got it at bed bath and beyond for about 30 dollars. good luck!

luv it luv it! put it on loud the first few days, and slowly make it lower and lower. don't forget to take it with you when you go away for shabbos!

do you have a laptop or portable computer with speakers?

You don't need to buy a noise machine, just go to: http://www.simplynoise.com.

You can choose from white noise, pink/red noise, or brown noise (yes they're real noises - check out wikipedia)

that means leaving the computer o all night! noise machines are cheap, about $15

I purchased 2 weeks ago a white noise machine (model: Shell Sound Machine $19) for dd who used to wake up at least once a night. Since I got this machine we all sleep peacefully...

my dd is also alight sleeper. So I got the cheapest boombox out there and downloaded brown noise (I like it better) on a cd. We play it continuously. it works great, drowns out all the noise outside her room.

I use a fan for ds, is that same thing? At home its gr8 but when we go away for Shabbos, really annoying cuz it so big. Is the sound machine loud enough?
